Description Position: Yard Equipment Manager Reports to: National Field Equipment Manager Department: Field Operations Status:  Regular Full Time Position – Exempt/Salary About Us: Schuff Steel is one of the largest structural steel fabricators and erectors in the United States. We build complex, high-profile structures across the country and are known for our commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Our Gainesville, TX yard plays a critical role in supporting fabrication operations and field projects by ensuring the right equipment and tools are available, compliant and ready to perform. We are looking for a strong operational leader who takes ownership, drives accountability, and builds a culture of discipline and safety. Position Summary: The Equipment yard Manager is responsible for the daily operations, organizations, safety, and performance of the Gainesville equipment yard. This is a hands-on leadership role that ensures tools and equipment are properly tracked, maintained, and deployed to support our field teams. This position directly impacts project productivity, cost control and safety performance. Core Responsibilities Develop and implement equipment management strategies to optimize utilization and reduce downtime. Oversee equipment procurement, maintenance schedules, and repairs to ensure operational efficiency. Maintain accurate inventory records and track equipment usage across multiple job sites. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies. Coordinate with project managers to assess equipment needs and availability. Establish vendor relationships for equipment leasing, repairs, and procurement. Monitor equipment lifecycle and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed. Develop cost-effective maintenance and repair strategies to control expenses. Train and support field teams on proper equipment use and safety procedures. Work Experience 5+ years of experience in equipment management within construction, industrial, or heavy equipment industries. Strong knowledge of fleet management, equipment maintenance, and logistics. Experience with budgeting, procurement, and vendor negotiations. Understanding of OSHA and safety regulations related to equipment usage Education/Training High School Diploma Certifications in equipment management or safety compliance are a plus. Software & Technology Proficiency in fleet management software, inventory tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or ERP systems is preferred. Work Environment Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions.  Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position.  Position requires out of state air/road travel as needed and required.  A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel.  Current and valid driver’s license and proof of acceptable insurance is required.  Work is performed in both office and field environments (outdoors). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate heavy equipment. This position directly impacts project productivity, cost control and safety performance.\\n\\n \\n\\nCore Responsibilities \\n\\n\\n\\tDevelop and implement equipment management strategies to optimize utilization and reduce downtime.\\n\\tOversee equipment procurement, maintenance schedules, and repairs to ensure operational efficiency.\\n\\tMaintain accurate inventory records and track equipment usage across multiple job sites.\\n\\tEnsure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.\\n\\tCoordinate with project managers to assess equipment needs and availability.\\n\\tEstablish vendor relationships for equipment leasing, repairs, and procurement.\\n\\tMonitor equipment lifecycle and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.\\n\\tDevelop cost-effective maintenance and repair strategies to control expenses.\\n\\tTrain and support field teams on proper equipment use and safety procedures.\\n\\n\\nWork Experience\\n\\n\\n\\t5+ years of experience in equipment management within construction, industrial, or heavy equipment industries.\\n\\tStrong knowledge of fleet management, equipment maintenance, and logistics.\\n\\tExperience with budgeting, procurement, and vendor negotiations.\\n\\tUnderstanding of OSHA and safety regulations related to equipment usage\\n\\n\\n \\n\\nEducation/Training\\n\\n\\n\\tHigh School Diploma\\n\\tCertifications in equipment management or safety compliance are a plus.\\n\\n\\n \\n\\nSoftware &amp; Technology\\n\\n\\n\\tProficiency in fleet management software, inventory tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.\\n\\tExperience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or ERP systems is preferred.\\n\\n\\n \\n\\nWork Environment \\n\\nPosition requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions.  Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position.  Position requires out of state air/road travel as needed and required.  A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel.  Current and valid driver’s license and proof of acceptable insurance is required.  Work is performed in both office and field environments (outdoors).
