Overview
KCI Technologies in Sparks, Maryland is seeking a motivated and experienced Water Resources Project Engineer to support our growing team. Typical work involves drainage/stormwater management/erosion and sediment control design, restoration design, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling in support of private, municipal, and transportation clients; NPDES MS4 support services; restoration work in support of local TMDLs and Chesapeake Bay Restoration; climate resiliency improvements; and maintenance/construction inspection.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other
Prepare, design and review engineering construction plans, drawings, and specifications for various water resources projects. Types of projects include assessment/design of drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, flood mitigation, stabilization, restoration.
Develop hydrologic and hydraulic studies for floodplain, drainage improvements, climate resiliency, flooding, dam breach analysis, stabilization, restoration.
Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information and ensure project compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Design and prepare deliverables for multiple water resources projects simultaneously, ensuring successful completion within defined timelines and budgets.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
Coordinate with internal and external teams to obtain necessary information, permits, approvals, and clearances for project execution.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff. Perform quality control review of delegated work.
Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in engineering techniques and technologies.
Communicate and collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, scope, and objectives.
Utilize strong organizational and scheduling skills to effectively track project progress and deliverables, providing regular updates to project stakeholders.
Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring client satisfaction, future collaboration.
* Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Required: • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry) • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. • Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.• Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Education and/or Work Experience Preferred: • Master’s Degree
Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required: • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
