The Distribution Utility Construction Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for overhead and underground distribution projects. This role requires detailed cost analysis, constructability review, and coordination with scheduling efforts. Experience with Primavera P6 is highly preferred, as schedule integration is critical for producing complete and competitive bid packages. Responsibilities Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates for overhead and underground distribution projects.• Perform quantity takeoffs and review engineering drawings, standards, staking sheets, and technical specifications.• Support and develop bid schedules using Primavera P6 (preferred) or similar scheduling tools.• Analyze construction sequencing, outage coordination, durations, and resource requirements to align cost and schedule.• Solicit, review, and incorporate vendor and subcontractor pricing.• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and field operations to refine estimate assumptions and improve constructability.• Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and internal estimate review sessions.• Maintain and update historical cost data, productivity rates, and estimating databases.• Support proposal development with scope clarifications, pricing summaries, and risk assessments.• Assist with project turnover by clearly communicating estimating assumptions and methodologies to operations.• Utilize B2W estimating software (preferred) to develop and manage estimates. Qualifications 1–3+ years of estimating experience in utility distribution construction.• Strong knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems, including poles, duct banks, conduit, cable, transformers, and related equipment.• Experience with estimating software; B2W experience strongly preferred.• Scheduling experience required; Primavera P6 experience strongly preferred.• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, utility standards, staking sheets, and technical documents.• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.• Familiarity with utility safety standards, permitting requirements, and local municipality coordination.
