The position oversees multiple concurrent projects, interfaces directly with clients and contractors, and plays a key role in strengthening the service line&rsquo;s strategic impact and technical reputation. This is a high-ownership role ideal for professionals who blend advanced engineering insight with strong communication and project coordination skills.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Plan, manage, and execute multiple concrete engineering projects, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.</li><li>Develop project scopes, testing protocols, and project-specific recommendations for complex concrete applications.</li><li>Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for technical and logistical challenges.</li><li>Perform in-depth analyses of concrete properties, such as creep, fatigue, thermal behavior, and alkali-silica reactivity (ASR).</li><li>Design and evaluate high-performance concrete mixes for unique applications, including lightweight, high-strength, and self-consolidating concretes.</li><li>Lead forensic investigations of concrete failures, identifying root causes and developing corrective measures.</li><li>Review and approve technical reports and design documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.</li><li>Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, addressing their concrete engineering needs and concerns.</li><li>Deliver technical presentations to clients and stakeholders, explaining findings and recommendations in a clear, consultative manner.</li><li>Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, identifying growth opportunities, and expanding client relationships.</li><li>Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior and mid-level engineers, ensuring their work is technically sound and aligned with project goals.</li><li>Lead internal training sessions on advanced concrete engineering topics, innovations, and best practices.</li><li>Review and validate the work of less experienced staff, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.</li><li>Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in engineering workflows.</li><li>Integrate emerging technologies, such as digital twin modeling or AI-based material optimization, into project workflows.</li><li>Collaborate with other departments to optimize resource allocation and ensure efficient project execution.</li><li>Ensure all activities comply with ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, MnDOT, and environmental regulations, as well as AET&rsquo;s internal safety and quality protocols.</li><li>Promote and uphold a proactive safety culture in all project planning and execution, even when overseeing lab-related evaluations indirectly. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Supervisory Responsibility</strong>&nbsp;</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Leads project teams for medium to large-scale engineering projects.</li><li>Assigns tasks, monitors progress, and provides technical mentorship to junior engineers.</li><li>Reviews and approves work to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Qualifications and Education</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field with a focus on Concrete Engineering; Master&rsquo;s preferred.</li><li>Minimum of 8 years of experience in concrete engineering or related fields.</li><li>Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.</li><li>Advanced proficiency with concrete design software and modeling tools.</li><li>Proven experience in managing large-scale concrete engineering projects.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Preferred&nbsp;Qualifications</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Advanced analytical skills for evaluating complex material behavior and structural performance.</li><li>Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.</li><li>Excellent communication skills for client interaction, report writing, and presentations.</li><li>Familiarity with cutting-edge materials and techniques, such as geopolymer concrete, self-healing materials, and nanotechnology-enhanced mixes.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Pay Transparency</strong></p><p>Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $100,000 to $130,000 per year based on skill set and experience.
