The Commission also has the authority to retire a judge involuntarily if the Commission determines that the judge suffers from a mental or physical disability which is or is likely to become permanent and which prevents, or seriously interferes with, the proper performance of duties. In addition, the Commission may, under appropriate circumstances, censure or reprimand a judge publicly.</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><strong><u>Commission membership</u>:</strong></p>\n\n<p>The Commission consists of seven members; two lay persons, four attorneys, and one federal judge.</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><strong><u>Qualifications</u>:</strong></p>\n\n<p>(A) is a citizen of the United States; (B) is a bona fide resident of the District and has maintained an actual place of abode in the District for at least ninety days immediately prior to appointment; and (C) is not an officer or employee of the legislative branch or of an executive or military department or agency of the United States and is not an officer or employee of the judicial branch of the United States, or an officer or employee of the District government (including its judicial branch).</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><u><strong>Time commitment</strong></u><strong>: &nbsp;</strong></p>\n\n<p>The Commission has monthly meetings.</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>If you are interested in an appointment to this board, please complete the appointment application.
