    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The radiologic technologist performs imaging procedures in their area of expertise.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<li>Provides imaging services to patients of all ages; including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric through knowledge of PACS.</li>\n<li>Provides for safety for all radiology services to self, patient, and co-workers.</li>\n<li>Understands and practices all AIDET principles.</li>\n<li>Fulfills education requirements as established by ARRT, TJC, and DCH Health System</li>\n<li>Administers contrast/medications to all assigned patients, according to policy and procedure.</li>\n<li>Technologist may be rotated at the discretion of her/her supervisor through any modality where competency has been assessed. Included but not limited to: Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, Mammography, and Fluoroscopy.</li>\n<li>Functions proficiently in specified area with little or no supervision.</li>\n<li>Instructs and supervises student technologists as assigned.</li>\n<li>Follows the established protocols to provide quality exams.</li>\n<li>Takes responsibility for the care, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and supplies used in the imaging of all patients.</li>\n<li>Works with other departments and personnel to provide appropriate and safe care to patients and families.</li>\n<li>Provides assistance for patients and their families in the department and during transport as appropriate, including any observed needs of the patients</li>\n<li>Must be efficient in the use of all transport equipment, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care and reports any problems when necessary</li>\n<li>Takes responsibility to care, cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment used in the transport of patients</li>\n<li>Takes responsibility for supplies used in transport of patients; i.e. ) oxygen cylinders, warm blankets, etc.</li>\n<li>The following are modality specific key responsibilities and essential functions not listed above: </li>\n<p>Mammography:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>\n  <ul>\n   <li>\n    <ul>\n     <li>Maintains personal qualifications as outlined by ACR/FDA/MQSA requirements; maintains quality control record.</li>\n    </ul></li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p>            MRI:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>\n  <ul>\n   <li>\n    <ul>\n     <li>Must have enhanced knowledge in the area of MRI expertise and skills that are required for maintaining a safe MRI environment daily.</li>\n     <li>Follows scanning protocols, positions and screening of patients, emergency response to patient and equipment problems.</li>\n    </ul></li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p>Nuclear Medicine:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>\n  <ul>\n   <li>\n    <ul>\n     <li>He/she performs nuclear medicine imaging, dilution and uptake procedures. He/she performs quality and radiation control procedures dictated by departmental policy and state regulations.</li>\n     <li>Performs nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with the authorized users of the facility radioactive materials license.</li>\n     <li>Provides all quality control and documentation of assay, dispensation and disposal of radioactive materials.</li>\n     <li>Provides these elements as outlined in departmental policy and as dictated by the State of Alabama’s regulations for radioactive materials.</li>\n    </ul></li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>DCH Standards:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.</li>\n <li>Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook</li>\n <li>Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.</li>\n <li>Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.</li>\n <li>Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.</li>\n <li>Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.</li>\n <li>Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.</li>\n <li>Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>All other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<li>Graduate of JRCERT approved school of radiologic technology</li>\n<li>Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography. Certification must be obtained within one year of hire date.</li>\n<li>BLS required.</li>\n<li>Must be efficient in the use of all radiologic equipment, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care, imaging exams, processed film or files and reports any problems.</li>\n<li>Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English</li>",
