Insures that work is completed per established policies/procedures, work order specifications and appropriate codes.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><em>Education:</em></p>\n<p>·         </p>\n<p><em>Licensure/Certification/Registry:</em></p>\n<p>·        State Plumbing License required.</p>\n<p>·        Certification in backflow preventers preferred.</p>\n<p>·        Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).</p>\n<p><em>Experience:</em></p>\n<p>·        Four years of plumbing experience required. Commercial and/or healthcare experience strongly preferred.</p>\n<p><em>Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</em></p>\n<p>·        Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply complex building codes such as NFPA and Joint Commission.</p>\n<p>·        Demonstrated ability to apply plumbing theory, read/understand blueprints, and other technical specifications.</p>\n<p>·        Demonstrated ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for long periods of time.</p>\n<p>·        Have basic computer knowledge.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<li>Establishes work priorities ensuring efficient organization and coordination of activities with installing, and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems per codes and specifications.</li>\n<li>Installs new plumbing pipe for water, steam, condensate lines, sewer, air, oxygen, vacuum, nitrous oxide, drains, and vents and for sterilizers and other sterilizing equipment.</li>\n<li>Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.</li>\n<li>Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.</li>\n<li>Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values:</li>\n<ul>\n <li><strong><u>SAFETY:</u></strong> <em>Prevent Harm</em> - I put safety first in everything I do. I prevent defects and delays.</li>\n</ul>\n<li>Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, dishwashers and water softeners</li>\n<li>Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes and opening clogged drains.</li>\n<li>Performs and documents preventative maintenance.</li>\n<li>Notifies department if asbestos exists in work area.</li>\n<li>Interacts with patients and hospital personnel in a courteous, helpful and cooperative manner.</li>\n<li>Maintains appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of the Medical Center.</li>\n<li>Follows all safety procedures/policies in completing work assignments.</li>\n<li>Assists with completing division goals.</li>\n<li>Coordinates assigned work to meet the needs of customers, patients and visitors.</li>\n<li>Develops work practices that utilizes time and material efficiently.</li>\n<li>Performs other related work as required or requested.</li>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em> </em></p>\n<p><em>The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
