The goal is to bring the fun and intentional support of camp into the city, to provide ongoing social, emotional and interpersonal support for these clients beyond their summer programming. Connecting Towhee will involve activities such as sports, mindfulness, yoga, community outings, and more. Each activity will combine social skill development and emotional regulation strategies with engaging recreational activities to support the mental health and growth of participants. </span></span><br> </p><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>What the role is all about...</strong></span></span><ol><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Work in tandem with other facilitators to effectively plan, deliver, and document therapeutic recreation activities for groups of clients. </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Attend mandatory staff training sessions prior to the start of groups.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Facilitate groups in an engaging, safe, fun, and accessible way while accounting for variations in clients age, cognitive profile, mental health and personal needs.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Provide one-to-one and group support in moments of frustration, confusion, and/or challenging behaviour with the goal of deescalating, understanding, collaborating, and repairing relationships. </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Manage client behaviors in a non-shaming or judgmental way consistent with the program model and staff training. </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Promotes social interactions, connections, friendships, and program engagement.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ensure proper client documentation is completed as required (i.e.-Incident reports, group reports and client notes).</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Communicate client information and concerns, including child protection concerns, to Program Coordinator promptly.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Work with the Coordinator, Therapeutic Recreation Programs to monitor program materials, equipment, and inventory. </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Consults with the Coordinator during supervision meetings and scheduled team meetings.</span></span><br> </li></ol><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>What we hope you will bring…</strong></span></span><ul><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">An in-progress or complete post-secondary diploma/degree, preferably in fields such as Social Work, Psychology, Education or Child & Youth Care.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">At least 2 years’ experience facilitating programs with youth in a therapeutic, educational, or recreational setting.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Knowledge in related program areas such as sports, mindfulness, yoga, or recreational hobbies. </span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Experience in learning disabilities and/or mental health (LDMH) or a commitment to professional development in this area.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Excellent initiative, emotion regulation, organization, and time management skills.</span></span></li><li><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ability to commute to the job location.
