Description

Description Responsible for providing on-going public education programs to the community, including maintaining and engaging volunteers to assist staff in meeting community education goals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Identifies opportunities to raise awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation to external stakeholders. Develops, implements, and delivers organ, eye and tissue donation educational programs to the general public. Knowledge of federal and state laws/regulations related to the donation process. Maintains in-depth knowledge of organ, eye and tissue donation process and donor criteria including Donation after Circulatory Death and brain death. Skills in written and verbal communication that consider the perspective of various audiences to achieve purpose and goals of public awareness of donation. Skills in developing and delivering presentations – in person and virtually - to various sized groups with ease, confidence and accuracy. Ability to generate ideas and develop unique plans and strategies for community education and awareness. In collaboration with Community Engagement Specialist (CES), produces monthly, quarterly and annual reports to document growth and/or trends in community education and engagement. Supports Community Engagement Specialist with coordination and execution of the annual Midwest Transplant Network Donate Life Legacy Walk. Supports CES in coordination and execution of national campaigns through workplace and community partnerships including but not limited to National Donate Life Month, Faith and Hope Month, National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month, activities, etc. and other activities as determined. Serves as a representative of Midwest Transplant Network to Donate Life America and other applicable agencies and organizations. Independently responds to inquiries from community to increase donor awareness and donor registry participation, as well as evaluate, coordinate and fulfill requests across the donation services area. Supports MTN Ambassador program including training, communication, engagement, etc. Involvement with guidance for special events and activities coordination as directed within the donation services area. Elicits and coordinates workplace partnerships and engagement to increase donor awareness and donor registry participation within the community. Assists with Donor Family Services events as necessary. Maintains effective working relationships with organ procurement, tissue procurement and hospital services partners. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Undergraduate degree in business, marketing or communications or equivalent field of study; RN or other allied health certification beneficial. 3-5 years experience in a professional position focused on community engagement in a medical environment or a combination of experience and education providing equivalent knowledge required. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including evening or weekend hours. Required to work for extended periods of time with few breaks. Detail oriented, organized, excellent tracking/reporting skills, effective written and verbal communication. Microsoft Office proficiency required. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel by ground within MTN’s Donation Services Area (DSA). Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone. OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
