The Project: Hexagon has partnered with our mining client to develop an autonomous haulage solution for a will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. The solution, which includes drive-by-wire technology and an autonomous management system, is a truck-agnostic, full-site solution designed to streamline vehicle movement in road-train haulage.

Responsibilities
The Position : Reporting to the Autonomous Field Manager, we are seeking a Field Validation Engineer role. The Field Validation Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of duties
The Autonomous Field Validation Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of tasks such as integration and commissioning of autonomy hardware, deploying, testing, and tuning autonomous vehicle software.
This position This position does require the ability to perform Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) 8/6 rosters and/or Drive In Drive Out (DIDO) operations at mine sites or at our test facility in Neerabup.
As a Field Validation Engineer your role will include the following responsibilities;
Work safely within bound of site requirements along with follow instructions from Hexagon Site superintendent, Customer S26, and Autonomous Field Engineering Test Lead
Integrate, debug, and commission drive-by-wire and autonomy softwareWork in-field, FIFO, deploying and testing autonomous vehicle software and dynamic controls systems
Perform test execution for new firmware, software, or hardware
Deploy software on embedded Linux controllers
Develop test instructions for vehicle operators
Regular reporting and discussions with NPI development teams to debug issues, provide product improvement suggestions
Record test data and any relevant notes in test record system (Jira)
Analyze, coordinate, and perform failure analysis activities to identify root cause of defects identified during testing
Act independently with minimal supervision to conduct data collection and complete required vehicle performance tests
Contribute to customer documentation and training material for various software applications
Assist customers with configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software
Qualifications
About you
We are looking for a Field Engineer/Software Engineer/Test Engineer with experience in the development and application of AHS solutions for mine site operations. This opportunity will offer a unique chance to join a worlds 1st in the evolving landscape of autonomous application in the mining sector. In addition we are seeking those with the following qualifications and skills;
Bachelor’s degree in an relative engineering discipline , software or relevant discipline
Prior experience across GPS sensors or raders for vehicle or autonomous AHS applications
Prior experience in software architecure design and middleware protocols e.g DDS
Knowledge and skilled in C++ OR Objective-C programming languages
Prior experience with Linux, OS would be desired
Ability to be agile and adaptable to fast changing requirements
Experienced in troubleshooting, problem solving in a testing/application environment within AHS or autonomous application within mining operations
Valid Australian working rights: Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen
