Department Overview
At the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, we are working to lift the burden of cancer from the world. The institute focuses on the early detection, prevention, and treatment of cancer, precision oncology, and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for its caregivers, researchers, and support personnel. Knight affiliates subscribe to three guiding principles: We are bold and supportive and work as a connected team in our fight to end cancer as we know it.
The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU, the School of Medicine, the University hospitals and clinics and include:
Drive and participate in the research mission of the university, as applied to patients with multiple myeloma;
Participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair.
It is anticipated this position will be made up of the following components: Clinical, Teaching, and Service.
Function/Duties of Position
The faculty member will join the Myeloma Team and will collaborate closely with the transplant and cellular therapy programs.
Responsibilities to include:
Management of patients with multiple myeloma in the outpatient setting
Attending on the inpatient bone marrow/hematologic malignancy service with an emphasis on treating patients with lymphoma and multiple myeloma
Shared responsibility for on-call coverage
Case conferencing with multi-disciplinary teams
Coordination of teaching rounds with Fellows and House-staff assigned to the inpatient or outpatient service
Growing the myeloma clinical and research programs
Fostering collaborative relationships with referring physicians and organizations
Medical direction to CHM Data Managers and Nurse Coordinators
Experience and expertise in the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive CHM databases
Development and participation in clinical trials
Participation in administrative committees and councils of OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Head
Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head.
Required Qualifications
MD, MD/PhD
Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
Board certified in Internal Medicine
Board eligible/certified in Hematology and/or oncology
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates who are interested in longitudinal care of patients with multiple myeloma
Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams across clinical, research, and academic settings
Advanced training and clinical experience focused on the care of patients with myeloma, including:
Bone marrow transplantation
Clinical and/or translational research in hematologic malignancies
