This role requires in-depth knowledge of proprietary services in addition to a big picture understanding of the entire infrastructure. The Systems Operations Engineer directly supports the core infrastructure services at Akamai.</p><p>As a System Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for:</p><ul><li class=\"lst\">Managing, enforcing, and implementing processes that provide internal users access to core infrastructure</li><li class=\"lst\">Working through detail-oriented procedures to handle change requests to Akamai's deployed network</li><li class=\"lst\">Collaborating with our global System Operations team to maintain consistent workflows across the group</li><li class=\"lst\">Serving as an escalation point for internal users on a broad range of issues</li><li class=\"lst\">Being subject matter and implementation expertise</li><li class=\"lst\">Promoting operational best practices to maintain the integrity of the Akamai network</li></ul><p><strong>Do what you love</strong></p><p>To be successful in this role you will:</p><ul><li class=\"lst\">Have sufficient Linux knowledge or experience</li><li class=\"lst\">Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or its equivalent.</li><li class=\"lst\">Show experience in troubleshooting complex issues</li><li class=\"lst\">Have understanding of modern Internet protocols</li><li class=\"lst\">Have communication skills to foster rapport with all colleagues</li><li class=\"lst\">Have a chance to work with scripting languages like Perl, Python, Shell</li><li class=\"lst\">Have some experience with operations or large networks - it would provide a good foundation for learning and development</li></ul><p><strong>Work in a way that works for you</strong></p><p>FlexBase, Akamai's Global Flexible Working Program, is based on the principles that are helping us create the best workplace in the world. The base salary for this position ranges from $58,800 - $122,200/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
