What if your job meant teaching someone to cook and grocery shop, axe throwing and karaoke, and sharing jokes and bonding while setting goals and reaching milestones? <span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>Then consider the role of a Direct Support Professional in FRIENDS of Broomfield’s Residential and Social Programs. </em></span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">General Description </span></span></p>\n<p><span>The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides meaningful and individually tailored services to meet the goals, desires and needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who live in a variety of community settings. The DSP works as part of a team to plan and schedule educational and community inclusion activities.  The DSP is responsible for providing appropriate supervision, mentoring and teaching opportunities so that adults may gain greater independence and build meaningful relationships with community members. The DSP enables adults in the program to recognize and develop their strengths and abilities so they can be empowered to make choices and lead fulfilling lives.  </span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>The DSP promotes person-centered concepts, provides opportunities for learning skills at home along with integration of individuals into the community and being involved in activities that increase independence. The DSP actively supports adults with IDD to choose and achieve the highest quality of life.   FRIENDS’ person-centered approach ensures that people are receiving the services they need in order to gain independence and truly be part of their community.  </span></p>\n<p><span>The DSP promotes the organization’s mission, vision and core values.</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Duties/Responsibilities</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Help individuals obtain, increase and maintain daily living skills and work toward their fullest potential to foster independence. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Provide direct care services to adults with IDD including assistance with activities of daily living, toileting, grooming and feeding. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Ensure health, safety and welfare of people according to procedures, individualized plans and protocols. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Implement household activities as outlined in individual service plans including teaching independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, money management, grocery shopping and sound decision making. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Provide guidance, motivation and support to reach the individual’s goals and maintain a person’s health and safety. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Help develop relationships with members of the community through a variety of activities.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: windowtext\">Provide direct support and supervision during Social Program events.</span><br></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Follow all service plans, Individual Service and Support Plans, the recommendations of team members and the needs and desires of the individual. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Effective communications with individual and their interdisciplinary team. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Provide transportation using FRIENDS of Broomfield fleet of vehicles and personal car. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Help to maintain cleanliness and safety of the person’s residence. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Work productively and cooperatively as a member of a team. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Complete daily documentation and progress notes. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Implement behavior plans as necessary. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Report any unusual behaviors, incidents, or concerns to supervisory/case management staff. Complete any necessary documentation.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Manage crises according to established policy, procedures, and guidelines. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Qualifications</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">High school diploma or equivalent required. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">At least 1 year experience working with adults with IDD. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet FRIENDS driving requirements. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full work days; ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Hours:</span></span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> Tuesday and Thursday, 9am-12pm</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Classification:</span></span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> Part-Time/ Non-Exempt</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Benefits:</span></span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> Paid holidays, 401(k) match, paid training, and an Employee Assistance Program.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><a href=\"https://friendsofbroomfield.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Apply online Today!</span></a></p>",
