    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Position oversees a scheduled on campus lab experience for the surgical technology program.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Position will average 15 to 20 hours per week during academic year, flexible hours based on availability. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Lab Maintenance and Preparation:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assemble and maintain instruments, supplies, and equipment for lab sessions.</li>\n <li>Ensure that all surgical instruments and supplies are properly stored and organized.</li>\n <li>Set up lab stations for student practice sessions, ensuring that all necessary materials are available and in working order.</li>\n <li>Assist in maintaining a clean and organized lab environment, including regular cleaning and restocking of supplies.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Student Support:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist first-year students with practicing fundamental surgical technologist skills, providing guidance and support as needed.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate proper techniques for handling instruments, setting up sterile fields, and other key skills.</li>\n <li>Offer feedback and encouragement to students, helping to build their confidence and competence.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Inventory and Supply Management:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Monitor inventory levels of lab supplies and surgical instruments, notifying the Lab Coordinator when items need to be reordered.</li>\n <li>Assist in receiving and organizing new supplies, ensuring that they are properly stored and accounted for.</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate records of supplies and equipment usage.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Administrative Duties:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Lab Coordinator or Program Director, such as scheduling lab sessions, preparing instructional materials, and maintaining student records.</li>\n <li>Assist in organizing and coordinating special lab events, workshops, and simulations.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Other Duties:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in lab meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and program expectations.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with other lab assistants and faculty members to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.</li>\n <li>Perform other related duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>AND</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Previous experience in a healthcare or lab environment or operating room.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with inventory management systems.</li>\n <li>CPR/First Aid certification.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>",
