We begin your benefits on day one and offer flexibility wherever possible, so that you can be present for your passions.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><u><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides support in the areas of patient registration, third party reimbursement requirements and regulations.</li>\n <li>Maintains department supplies and customer supply orders.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.</li>\n <li>Performs all departmental functions and has a thorough knowledge of hospital and laboratory information systems, to include downtime functions, specimen processing, transportation, billing, reference testing and scheduling.</li>\n <li>Maintains positive customer service relationships at all times and proactively responds to customer service issues.</li>\n <li>Processes pathology specimens as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Trains staff as required.</li>\n <li>Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the department.</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with all team members and respond to customer phone calls.</li>\n <li>Assist in maintaining and cleaning of laboratory equipment, i.e., refrigerators, centrifuges.</li>\n <li>Follows the established policies and procedures to meet regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.</li>\n <li>Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.</li>\n <li>Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><u><strong>Other Related Functions:</strong></u></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Responsible for maintaining an active role in the laboratory Quality Improvement Program.</li>\n <li>Maximizes productivity, customer satisfaction and profitability.</li>\n <li>Documents specimen quality issues.</li>\n <li>Adheres to infection control and safety practices and keeps a clean and organized work area.</li>\n <li>Maintains confidentiality of patient record, hospital and departmental matters at all times.</li>\n <li>Performs filing of reports and requisitions.</li>\n <li>Assists with charting and report distribution via telephone, fax, or as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Reads and understands a Physician's laboratory test order.</li>\n <li>Schedules Pathologists, Histotechnicians or Transportation Reps as needed.</li>\n <li>Assists with bone marrow collection and processing.</li>\n <li>May perform phlebotomy as necessary (must have approved competency on file before completing).</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><u><strong>Education/Training</strong></u></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED equivalency</li>\n</ul>\n<p><u><strong>Licensure/Certification</strong></u></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Phlebotomy certification a plus</li>\n</ul>\n<p><u><strong>Experience</strong></u></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Two (2) years of laboratory experience or patient care experience in a patient-facing healthcare environment required.\n  <ul>\n   <li>Current student seeking higher educational degree or certification in a science field, such as nursing, medical technology, pre-med, or related clinical field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Phlebotomy experience highly desired.</li>\n</ul>",
