    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Posting Expires: 3/19/26&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Salary Range: $39,370.24- $49,212.80</strong></p><p><span><strong>General Description and Classification Standards:</strong></span></p><p style=\"margin-left: 0in; text-indent: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Performs manual work functions associated with operating environmental equipment in the Bureau of Solid Waste Services.&nbsp;</span></p><p style=\"margin-top: 12pt;\"><span><strong>Supervision Received:</strong></span></p><p style=\"margin-left: 0in; text-indent: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">*</span></p><p style=\"margin-top: 12pt;\"><span><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></span></p><p><i><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\">These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.</span></i></p><p>&nbsp;</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 9.6px;\"><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Acts as first line supervisor to Environmental Service Workers assigned to truck.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Operates environmental equipment such as a conventional rear loader garbage truck and open-body dump truck to remove refuse from residential units and from special events.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Drives assigned route.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Performs manual work functions and utilizes various tools including pitchfork, rake, shovel and broom to empty receptacles and pick up yard trimming, bulk rubbish and spillage.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Performs pre- and post-route vehicle inspections and basic maintenance activities; keeps the interior and exterior of assigned equipment clean.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Obtains the necessary tools to perform specific tasks so that work can be performed both efficiently and in a timely manner.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Communicates with supervisors to inform them of progress made on work assignments.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Reports any mechanical problems associated with vehicle.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Reports problems or emergency situations.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Responds to routine requests for information from officials, employees, the public or other city agencies.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Uses a two-way radio to communicate with supervisor and to receive instructions.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Operates a conventional rear loader garbage truck; may operate an open-body dump truck, tandem dump truck, MAD VAC, and mini-truck.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Provides maintenance to equipment to prevent equipment damage.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Fuels and dumps vehicle daily at the end of the work shift.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Cuts grass as required.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Receives various forms, work orders, reports, and other documents; completes, processes, and forwards as appropriate.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Completes vehicle maintenance reports to document mileage, fuel, etc.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Prepares/generates maintenance records, logs, or other documentation as required.</span></li><li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">May perform other duties as assigned.</span></li></ul><p style=\"margin: 12pt 0in 0.0001pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 0in;\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 9pt;\">The above statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position.
