Overview
Salary Range: $44,782-$72,242
Position Summary
The Entry Writer II position works within the CHB team overseeing the accurate and timely submission of customs entries for clearance of in-bound cargo through US Customs and facilitating the delivery of freight to customers. The Entry Writer II serves as a customer advocate, handles escalations and must possess good customer service skills working with their team and supervisors in the office and online team meetings.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and review documentation, input and transmit data for CBP release of shipments.
Follow SOPs for each customer on the correct method and data required for preparing an entry.
Under the guidance of the licensed broker or customer classify products according to the HTSUSA
Identify products that are subject to PGAs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams through calls and in-person meetings to resolve major customer complaints and shipping issues, including delays, missing or damaged freight, labor strikes, and embargoes.
Maintain system task list to identify the status of every entry through each phase of the CBP process
Organize their work to identify the status of every file through every phase of the CBP entry process.
Recognize routine and non-routine transactions for reporting discrepancies to management
Responsible for meeting KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) for Import operations
Manage customs issues, such as holds and exams
Handle entry cancellations; IT/TE/IE moves as needed
Handle carnets and TIB entries
Identify and resolve issues that may result in delayed cargo release or final delivery
Report all issues to customers and management affecting timely clearance and delivery in a timely manner.
Report problem resolutions to management in a timely manner including suggestions for problem avoidance in the future.
Communicate in writing or verbally with customers and manage all issues affecting specific urgent shipments.
Track and trace shipments and coordinate with airlines, steamship lines, freight forwarders and CFS on the availability of imported shipments
Arrange with trucking companies the pick-up and delivery of freight solutions to simplify and expedite cargo flow.
Handle accounting processes as they apply to CHB including the issuance of invoices to customers or overseas offices as well as the processing of payment requisitions
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
2-4 years of experience as an entry writer or in customs brokerage operation
Must have sound knowledge of US Customs and Harmonized Tariff Codes, familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (knowledge of CHB processes)
IATA Dangerous Goods Certificate and experience with Cargowise, a plus.
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs and other programs to produce status report and other documents

Occasional lifting or moving of office supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.

Visual acuity required for tasks including, but not limited to, computer work, document review, and data analysis.
Must maintain strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and independent work habits.
Adaptability to changing priorities and effective professional communication with colleagues and customers.
Regular, punctual attendance and compliance with all company policies and procedures; occasional overtime may be required.
On-Site Requirements: In-office presence required for meetings, team events and scheduled days.
Must be able to work as part of a functional team including working in an office on a Hybrid Schedule as required by company policy
