Description
Position: Safety Manager
Supervisor: General Manager/President
Job Description: The Safety Manager will maintain effective safety operations across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and programs related to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices and regulatory requirements.
Ensure all federal, state, and local EHS laws, regulations, codes, and site safety rules are observed.
Develop, maintain, and enforce safety policies and procedures tailored to our business operations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA & EPA).
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinate safety training for new hires and ongoing employee education.
Maintain safety records, including training logs, accident and incident reports, and inspection checklists.
Serve as the primary contact for workers’ compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work programs.
Promote a culture of safety through ongoing communication and employee engagement.
Monitor and manage safety-related equipment such as harnesses, first aid stations, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and emergency preparedness plans.
Oversee powered industrial equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts to ensure they are properly inspected, maintained, and operated only by trained and authorized personnel.
Ability to travel off-premises when necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies:
Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to conduct training.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Health and Occupational Safety
At least 1-2 years of experience in the field.
Skills:
Risk Assessment/Management
Administrative policies and procedures
Familiarity with project and department budget process and tools
Knowledge of project controls
Conceptual planning ability
Conflict management and problem-solving skills
Leadership ability
Multi-tasking ability
Communication, meeting, and presentation skills
Comfort with time reporting systems
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
Ability to travel across the United States.
