    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Laboratory Technician II</strong></p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">Intertek is searching for an&nbsp;<strong>Laboratory Technician II </strong>to join our Caleb Brett&nbsp;team in our&nbsp;<strong>Hamilton, Ontario </strong>office.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">The&nbsp;<strong>Laboratory Technician II</strong>&nbsp;is responsible for:</p><p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p><p>To work safely at all times.<br>• To pick up samples from the client’s location or receive samples for testing.<br>• To be aware of the specific safety requirements of sample handling, and sample composition, and ensure routine compliance.<br>• To perform testing of routine and non-routine samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology.<br>• To Enter the QC data in Baytek.<br>• To verify and communicate the results obtained, and to make the appropriate entries into instrument logs, GLIMS, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information.<br>• To maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.<br>• To prepare and standardize reagents and solutions needed for the testing processes.<br>• To perform all critical tests including Jet Fuel Full Certification.<br>• To monitor the availability of the supplies needed for testing processes, restock areas as required, and make any need for such supplies known to the Lab Supervisor / Manager.<br>• Accountable for completing all training specific to their role and keeping personal training records current and orderly.<br>• To possess IATA training and be able to ship dangerous goods by air and by ground as required.<br>• Other duties related to the above, as assigned<br>• Carrying out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with total adherence to: the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, Quality Management System, Compliance and Ethics Policies, Vision, Mission and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.</p><p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>What it takes to be successful in this role:</strong></p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">• Post-secondary diploma in a related technical discipline and 2+ years of petroleum testing experience or<br>• Chemical Engineering diploma is an asset</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Working Conditions</strong><br>Work will be conducted in an environmentally controlled structure. The position will require standing for most of the work shift, walking will be moderate. Eyesight acuity is needed for analytical tests and reading and observing data. Repetitive motions include lifting, moving, reaching, and carrying generally for items less than 4 kilos but occasionally for items up to greater than 25 kilos with appropriate equipment.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Core Competencies</strong><br>• Effective verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, dependability, and self-motivation.<br>• Experience in handling chemical and petroleum products.<br>• Organized with time management skills.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Value Added Competencies</strong><br>• Knowledge of quality systems.<br>• Knowledge of statistical quality control practices</p><p><strong>Salary &amp; Benefits Information</strong></p><p>The base wage or salary range for this position is $27.13 per hour ( candidate should be willing to work in shifts). Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including shift hours, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
