Develops, organizes and implements corporate policy and strategy in the state Capitol. Demonstrates the ability to educate the state, legislative and government on the goals and objectives of the corporation.<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Job Description</b></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p><b>WHAT YOU&#39;LL DO:</b></p><ul><li><p>Lead legislative environmental and other policy initiatives.</p></li><li><p>Provide effective representation of the company&#39;s position on legislative, regulatory, environmental and major policy issues.</p></li><li><p>Establish and maintain key stakeholder legislative, government, regulatory and industry and public advocacy group relationships at every level.</p></li><li><p>Influence the development of Operating Company environmental regulations working in partnership with environmental services.</p></li><li><p>Support corporate grassroots and political action committee activities.</p></li><li><p>Represent Operating Company within industry trade associations and other industry organizations.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>WHAT WE&#39;RE LOOKING FOR:</b></p><p></p><p>Education requirements are listed below: <b>Bachelor&#39;s Degree in engineering, public policy, political science or related discipline.</b></p><p></p><p>Work Experience requirement listed below: <b>Five (5) years&#39; of experience in public policy work with demonstrated leadership skills and thorough understanding of state regulatory and legislative processes.</b></p><p></p><p><b>Must reside in or near Oklahoma City, OK.</b></p><p></p><p><b>OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</b> Travel requirements are expected 10-25% of the time.</p><p></p><p>Although, physical demand level is Sedentary at times, the position does require significant amount of walking at the Capital.</p><p></p><ul><li><p>Experience with respective state legislative or regulatory processes is preferred when working in the operating company.</p></li><li><p>Ability to build relationships, interface, collaborate and achieve objectives through collaboration with multiple groups of stakeholder&#39;s government officials, business leaders, customers, and AEP employees at all levels.</p></li><li><p>Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively negotiate and achieve goals that support customers and our business.</p></li><li><p>Willingness to work evenings or weekends to attend key business functions.</p></li><li><p>Travels 10% of the time within Operating Company territory.</p></li><li><p>Although this position is listed as hybrid, the position will be onsite 5 months out of the year during the legislative session.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>At AEP, we’re more than just an energy company — we’re a team of dedicated professionals committed to delivering safe, reliable, and innovative energy solutions.
