Benefits may vary based on state law.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Job Overview</h2>\n<p>The Patient Access Representative greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information.  Schedules outside services; assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc.  Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary.  Scans documents in EMR, maintains incomplete Verification Work-list in EMR.  Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions. Shriners Children's – Portland is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to specialize in the registration process. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position is per diem, non-exempt and health benefits eligible. </p>\n<p>Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Registration/check-in of patients for hospital and clinic appointments</li>\n <li>Accurately maintain patient data, insurance information, and other pertinent information</li>\n <li>Obtain necessary authorization forms and accurately document information in computer</li>\n <li>Perform insurance verification functions, for both commercial and multi-state Medicaid plans</li>\n <li>Assist in the management of work-lists related to referrals, denials, and authorization requirements</li>\n <li>Assist with financial counseling functions for Uninsured patients</li>\n <li>Support new patient intake and patient scheduling functions as needed</li>\n <li>Provide superior customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Note:  This is not an all-inclusive list of this job's responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma/GED </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associate Related Field </li>\n <li>2 Years Patient Access, insurance verification</li>\n <li>2 Years Computer applications, typing, general office skills</li>\n <li>2 Years Clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage, and follow-up</li>\n</ul>",
