Job Overview
Madden's is an award-winning resort, located on more than 1,000 acres, that anticipates the wishes and desires of vacationers and offers them fantastic golf, upscale dining, lakeside spa, tennis, activity programs for children, biking, shopping, and art gallery with painting classes and almost every kind of on-the-water recreation possible in Minnesota, including fishing. Madden’s has distinguished itself by an emphasis on gracious hospitality, quality, and diversity. Our philosophy is simply to provide the best that Minnesota has to offer. Madden’s is currently seeking a full time Sales Manager who will solicit group business in the corporate and social market, that enables the facility to meet and/or exceeds group revenue goals in room, food and beverage, and golf.
Duties and Responsibilities
Telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, sales presentations, property tours, customer meetings, travel to key markets, and written correspondence.
Maintains and cultivates relationships with new and existing customers.
Develops sales leads through innovative strategies.
Prepares written and verbal correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, and ensures proper maintenance of sales files.
Prepares reports such as annual individual sales plans and client mapping.
Assists in developing rates through review of competitive data, demand analysis, and mix management.
Participates in and may conduct meetings such as: staff meetings, daily business review and pre-convention and post-convention meetings.
Works with other departments within the resort to provide quality service to customers.
Attends trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
Drafts proposals for group and social sales.
Cultivates corporate relationships by setting and conducting outside meetings.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Organized, great communication, calm under pressure, decisive & flexible.
Excellent listening, speaking, and writing
Must be able to work alongside other people and independently.
The ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients is essential.
Adept at not only solving problems but maintaining your composure when doing so.
Time management.
Education/Experience:
Associate degree (AA); three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Hotel Management, Marketing preferred).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in multiple outlets and facilities.
Physical Demands:
Primarily stationary such as sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to stand, walk, talk/hear, both in person and by telephone, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pound boxes and items sometimes repeatedly.
Expected Hours of Work:
8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday with occasional nights and weekends.
Travel:
Less than 10% travel required.
