Position Description Summary/Purpose :
Full-time faculty members at Goodwin University are responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in their particular disciplines. They teach fifteen credit hours per semester, 3 semesters per year. Faculty advise students; serve on university committees; develop and maintain curriculum; stay current in their disciplines; stay current with pedagogy and teaching methodology; participate in on and off-campus staff development activities; fulfill administrative responsibilities relevant to their positions; participate in university, professional, and community service; and engage in scholarly work related to teaching and learning.
This position is slated to start Fall 2026 .
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :
(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)
Teach all classes according to an approved course syllabus.
Ensure that each course contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains alignment with the course learning outcomes.
Ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled and support excellent attendance and punctuality.
Assess student academic achievement and demonstrate modification of teaching techniques in accordance with assessment feedback and inclusive learning design principles.
Submit reports in an accurate and timely manner, including attendance, grades, progress surveys, and other related documentation.
Attend content area meetings and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of content area goals and curriculum review based on student learning outcomes.
Initiate discussions and make recommendations to the Director of Mathematics concerning the improvement of teaching, curriculum, and processes related to improving student outcomes.
Attend professional development activities to remain informed of current trends and innovative approaches to instruction.
Serve on and provide information to university committees as needed and requested.
Conducts all work in a safe manner, and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions :
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Mathematics and the Dean
Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
Demonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
Demonstrated professional attitude, philosophy, compassion, and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.
Ability to work collegially in a team environment.
Ability to exercise individual initiative, independent action, and sound judgment.
Ability to develop and deliver curriculum and instruction grounded in the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL; CAST, 2024)
Ability to analyze, synthesize and interpret student learning outcome data to improve teaching and learning
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications :
Education, Training, and Experience :
The required qualifications would generally be acquired with or any equivalent combination of education, work experience and training, as indicated below.
Minimum master’s degree in mathematics
Minimum two years of experience teaching statistics, calculus, and mathematics to undergraduates
Demonstrated skill in teaching in a traditional college classroom and in an on-line environment.
Knowledge of current trends and practices in teaching statistics, calculus, and mathematics to undergraduates
Demonstrated ability to use web-based applications and learning management software.
Demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching and a commitment to high academic and professional standards.
Special Requirements :
Availability to teach on-ground classes in the day and the evening.
