Estimator III Location:  Houston, Tx - On Site Employment Type:  Full-Time   With over  19 years of experience, Hays Electrical Services  is a nationally recognized electrical contractor delivering high-quality, safe, and reliable electrical solutions across commercial, industrial, and specialty markets. Position Summary Responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Leads estimating efforts for large, complex, or strategic projects. Reviews project plans and specifications to develop accurate and competitive bids. Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and scope. Analyzes historical data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy. Prepares and presents estimate reports and documentation to support project proposals and budgeting. Plays a key role in preconstruction strategy, risk management, and business development. Ensures compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the estimating process. Mentors junior estimators and contributes to continuous improvement of estimating practices. Provides technical expertise and mentors early career estimators. Key Responsibilites Lead preparation of comprehensive estimates for large-scale and complex projects. Develop pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and company objectives.  Analyze project risks, contingencies, and constructability considerations. Direct subcontractor engagement strategy and negotiations, assessing cost effectiveness of products and services. Partner with executives, operations, and business development on pursuit strategy and issue resolution. Present estimates and recommendations to senior leadership and clients.  Mentor and develop Estimator I and II team members.  Continuously improve estimating tools, processes, and cost database. Lead high-value, high-risk, or strategically important bids.  Shape estimating strategy, standards, and team capabilities. Qualifications & Skills Required Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 7+ years of progressive estimating experience, including complex project leadership. Highly proficient in estimating systems and data analytics. Possess deep, comprehensive expertise in construction methods, cost drivers, and market trends. Advances risk assessment and value engineering capabilities. Strategic thinking with strong business and financial acumen. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Prior experience providing leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.  Preferred Professional certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), Certified Professional Estimator (CPE).  Benefits: Competitive salary (commensurate with experience).
