Description

About Standard Bots Standard Bots builds industrial robotic arms that make automation accessible to every manufacturer. We're growing fast — scaling from a lean startup into a high-volume production operation with tens of thousands of robots produced annually. Our Glen Cove facility is the operational heart of that ambition, and we're building it to last. About the Role This role is on-site at our manufacturing facility in Glen Cove, NY. We're hiring a Facilities Manager to own the physical infrastructure of our primary manufacturing campus. This is a foundational role as we scale from a multi-thousand to a 100,000+ sq ft operation with 200+ employees across production, engineering, and corporate functions. You'll be responsible for the full facilities lifecycle — from day-to-day maintenance and safety compliance to long-range capacity planning as we bring advanced manufacturing processes in-house, including CNC machining, surface finishing and painting, and potentially molten metal casting. You'll work closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, EHS, and HR to ensure our facility supports world-class production performance and a safe, productive work environment. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role. The right person is equally comfortable reviewing HVAC specs, walking the production floor to identify hazards, negotiating contractor bids, and presenting a capital improvement roadmap to leadership. What You'll Do Team Leadership & Development Build, lead, and develop a high-performing facilities team — including facilities technicians, maintenance engineers, IT/OT coordinators, and project coordinators — as the organization scales Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s and reviews, and create growth paths that retain top talent Foster a culture of safety-first, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team Act as a player-coach when needed: lead from the front on complex problems while developing your team's ability to solve independently Build staffing plans that anticipate operational needs ahead of facility expansions, ensuring the team scales in step with the business Manage all preventive and corrective maintenance programs across production, engineering lab, cleanroom, and office spaces Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, and utility systems — including industrial-scale systems supporting heavy manufacturing Manage and develop a facilities technician team; oversee contractors and service vendors Own facility readiness for high-volume, continuous manufacturing operations (production uptime is a KPI) Safety & Regulatory Compliance Lead EHS programs: OSHA compliance, chemical/hazmat management, emergency response plans, fire prevention systems, and industrial hygiene Manage permitting and regulatory compliance for industrial processes, including those associated with CNC machining (coolant/chip disposal), spray painting (VOCs, ventilation, fire suppression), and molten casting (high-heat, fume extraction, PPE programs) Conduct and document safety audits, near-miss investigations, and corrective actions Partner with HR and Engineering on ergonomics, PPE standards, and training programs Capital Projects, Construction & Expansion Own the facility roadmap: plan and execute a continuous pipeline of expansions, tenant improvements, and infrastructure upgrades as we scale to 100,000+ sq ft and beyond Lead all phases of construction and improvement projects — scope definition, bid solicitation, contractor selection, permitting, construction oversight, commissioning, and close-out — with multiple projects running in parallel at any given time Drive rigorous project management discipline: detailed schedules, milestone tracking, budget control, risk identification, and stakeholder communication from kickoff to ribbon-cut Coordinate facility requirements for new process introductions (NPI) — ensuring space, utilities, ventilation, drainage, and workflow are production-ready before equipment arrives Maintain accurate facility drawings, equipment layouts, and utility documentation Own lessons-learned processes across projects to continuously improve execution speed and cost predictability IT/OT Infrastructure Management Own the facility's operational technology (OT) environment: industrial networks, PLCs, SCADA systems, machine controllers, and connected robotics infrastructure — ensuring uptime, security, and scalability as production grows Partner with IT and Engineering to manage the convergence of IT and OT networks, enforcing segmentation, access controls, and cybersecurity best practices across the production floor Oversee facility-wide IT infrastructure: structured cabling, server rooms, Wi-Fi coverage, AV systems, physical access control, and surveillance systems Manage relationships with IT/OT vendors, integrators, and telecom providers; own contracts and SLAs for connectivity, networking, and building automation systems (BAS) Plan and execute technology infrastructure upgrades in lockstep with facility expansions — ensuring new production zones are fully networked, monitored, and integrated before go-live Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Operations on MES, IoT sensor deployments, and real-time production monitoring infrastructure Production & Engineering Support Partner with Manufacturing Operations on floor layout optimization, material flow, and 5S/lean environment standards Support Engineering with lab infrastructure needs, cleanroom maintenance (ISO zoning compliance), and test equipment utility requirements Manage receiving dock operations, loading areas, and material staging zones in coordination with Supply Chain Supplier & Vendor Relationship Management Own the full ecosystem of facilities suppliers and contractors: general contractors, specialty trade subs (electrical, mechanical, civil, fire suppression, HVAC), equipment service providers, landlords, utilities, janitorial, security, landscaping, and more Build and maintain a qualified vendor bench — cultivating long-term relationships that give Standard Bots priority access, competitive pricing, and reliable execution as we grow Lead RFP, bid, and contract negotiation processes; establish clear SLAs, scope-of-work standards, and accountability mechanisms across all vendor relationships Manage vendor performance through regular reviews; resolve disputes and course-correct underperforming partners without disrupting operations Own the facilities operating and capital budget; manage spend against plan with full transparency to leadership Drive cost efficiency and preferred vendor leverage without compromising safety, compliance, or production reliability What You'll Bring 7+ years of facilities management experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment, including direct people management responsibility Demonstrated experience building and leading a facilities or operations team — hiring, developing, and holding people accountable Demonstrated experience managing facilities that include heavy industrial processes (machining, painting/coating, casting, or equivalent) Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, building codes, fire and life safety systems, and environmental compliance requirements Proven project management chops: you've run multiple large, concurrent construction or improvement projects and can show a track record of on-time, on-budget delivery Experience owning or managing significant capital projects ($500K+); familiarity with construction contracts (GMP, lump sum, T&M) and change order management A deep and active network of facilities suppliers and trade contractors — and the relationship skills to build and manage a high-performing vendor ecosystem Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings Hands-on technical competency — you can diagnose a problem before calling a contractor Strong communicator who can run a contractor meeting in the morning and present a capital roadmap to the executive team in the afternoon Preferred Familiarity with IT/OT network convergence, industrial cybersecurity frameworks (IEC 62443 or equivalent), and building automation systems Experience supporting CNC machining environments (coolant systems, chip conveyors, ventilation) Familiarity with spray booth design, VOC permitting, and NFPA 33 compliance Experience with cleanroom or controlled environment facilities (ISO 6–8) CFM, FMP, or PE credential Experience in a high-growth, scaling manufacturing or robotics company Background in lean manufacturing or 6S program ownership Why Join Us Ground-floor opportunity to build a world-class manufacturing campus from the ground up Direct impact on the physical infrastructure behind a product that's changing how manufacturing works Collaborative, technically serious team that moves fast and values ownership Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits On-site role at our Glen Cove, NY headquarters Compensation and benefits The salary range for this role is $140,000 to $170,000. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
