Description
Overview
The Co Curriculum Coordinators for the Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT) Summer Workshop will play a pivotal role in the planning, development, and delivery of a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum for a diverse group of aspiring graduate students. As part of IRT’s flagship Summer Workshop, the Co Curriculum Coordinators will work closely with IRT program staff and faculty to ensure the program aligns with IRT’s mission of preparing underrepresented students for graduate studies in education, humanities, and social sciences. This virtual workshop serves approximately 100-130 scholars annually and focuses on professional identity development, pedagogical skill-building, and the integration of critical theory in education.

Curriculum Development and Coordination:
Design and manage the delivery of an engaging, inclusive, and rigorous curriculum for the Summer Workshop, ensuring that it meets the needs of scholars from diverse backgrounds. This includes: Collaborating with faculty to develop content and select key readings, lectures, and seminar topics that address themes of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in education. Designing and implementing skill-building sessions that support scholars in professional development, pedagogical growth, and aligning their academic interests with graduate school goals. Organizing seminars that introduce critical theory in education, humanities, and social sciences, preparing scholars for the intellectual rigor of graduate coursework. Faculty Support and Collaboration:
Serve as the primary point of contact for Summer Faculty, providing orientation and ongoing support. This includes: Assistingin the onboarding of faculty members, ensuring they understand the Summer Workshop goals, pedagogy, and expectations. Design and co-facilitate professional development that fosters a faculty cohort, is responsive to the changing educational landscape and encourages faculty to lean into their agency as change-makers. Coordinating faculty schedules and supporting faculty in delivering their sessions effectively on the virtual platform. Managing communication between faculty and scholars, addressing any logistical or academic needs that arise. Logistics and Scheduling
Create andmaintainthe Summer Workshop schedule on the virtual platform, ensuring that all sessions, seminars, and events run smoothly. This includes: Organizing virtual interactive courses, skill building sessions and chalk talks Assist the IRT staff with coordinating faculty toparticipatein the Consortium Deans/Administrators’ Annual Meeting and toassistduring the Graduate Recruitment Fair in mid-July Ensuring accessibility for all scholars,utilizingthe virtual platform effectively for both synchronous and asynchronous activities. Program Evaluation and Feedback
Collaborate with the IRT staff to develop and implement systems for evaluating the success of the Summer Workshop curriculum. This includes: Collecting feedback from scholars and faculty to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and make necessary adjustments. Monitoring scholar engagement and participation, ensuring that the curriculum is meeting the diverse needs of the cohort. Reporting on outcomes and recommendations for future Summer Workshop programming. Qualifications
Participated in the IRT Summer Workshop or Associate Program; Served as IRT Summer Workshop Faculty HoldaMaster’s degree in Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field isrequiredorhave completedat least 2 years of a Ph.D. program. Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in curriculum development, ideally within higher education or community-based educational programs. Experience working with underrepresented and diverse student populations. Experience with virtual learning environments and remote programming. Knowledge of educational theories, critical pedagogy, and inclusive teaching practices. Skills
Strong organizational and project management skills withanability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
