Department Overview The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is recognized as a top integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. Guided by a multi-disciplinary approach, researchers and clinicians drive a vibrant translational research program, which focuses on delivering the latest knowledge and cutting edge care to patients. Specifically, research at KCVI seeks to improve patient outcomes by achieving earlier diagnosis of disease, more accurate monitoring of its progression, and tailoring therapy to the molecular basis of disease. The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a physician-scientist with a nationally recognized research program in vascular biology. Successful candidates will have an exceptional record of accomplishment in vascular biology research, supported by a record of national funding, scholarly achievement and publication, and will have demonstrated leadership, faculty mentorship experience and a commitment to translational and collaborative research. The program leader will strengthen and expand existing research activities and lead multidisciplinary research collaborations of scientists and clinicians related to vascular function and disease. Function/Duties of Position Administrative: The program leader (a) supports the development of innovative experimental approaches to a broad range of programs in basic and translational science, (b) guides development of cutting-edge infrastructure and resources in partnership with other groups within KCVI, (c) oversees the development of a vascular biology research community at OHSU. The program leader will communicate closely with various basic science and clinical endeavors within OHSU, and will work collaboratively with other basic science and clinical investigators to expand vascular biology research at OHSU. The position will also provide high-level integration between the basic and clinical sciences and the hospital related to vascular medicine. Research: The Director will be expected to establish and maintain a fully-funded independent individual research program focused on vascular biology research. The program leader will be expected to establish scientific collaborations both within OHSU and externally, and provide mentorship fellows and students within their research program. Clinical: Clinical duties will focus on ambulatory work equivalent to 0.2 cFTE. Required Qualifications Proven record of leadership. International caliber research program in the field of vascular biology research. Experience working in a diverse institution with multiple, complementary goals. A substantial record of accomplishment in scholarship, mentorship, collaboration and service Must be licensed MD/DO Active BLS/ACLS and DEA Certifications Preferred Qualifications Prior experience practicing in an academic health facility is preferred Additional Details #Cardiologyfaculty Why apply to OHSU?
