About This Role We are looking for an experienced and passionate Systems Engineering Lead with a strong background in model-based design and modeling and simulation architectures, with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) development programs. This role is crucial for integrating state-of-the-art systems engineering practices into our major system development program, significantly impacting our strategic objectives. Your expertise and technical knowledge will be crucial in ensuring the successful design, integration, and implementation of cutting-edge defense technologies. As a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of our military customers. Responsibilities We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for: Spearheading model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies, ensuring alignment with DoD standards and practices. Leveraging agile development strategies to develop modeling architecture in support of requirements allocation and verification, design trade studies and optimization, functional and mission modelling, specification development, and collaboration with customer and end user modeling frameworks. Coordination with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of MBSE concepts within our system development processes. Utilizing systems engineering tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, MATLAB, or similar for system design and analysis. Conducting system architecture design, requirements engineering, verification and validation, and risk management activities. Managing the systems engineering process for complex military systems, from concept to deployment, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, project requirements, and industry standards. Performing system level trade analysis of different design options including estimated development and operational costs. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and subject matter experts, to develop system architecture and design solutions that optimize performance, reliability, and maintainability. Overseeing system integration, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with functional requirements and performance objectives. Conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies to address technical challenges and ensuring system safety, security, and interoperability. Collaboration with project managers to develop project plans, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of milestones. Supporting the preparation of technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project and contractual requirements. Fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities, to understand their needs, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.
