Description
Greenville University is seeking applications for a tenure-track open rank professor with expertise in a medically related biology field. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Department of Biology & Chemistry and serve as a mentor to biology students interested in health-related careers. Preferred requirements include a minimum of a master’s degree in biology or related field (PhD preferred). Candidates with terminal degrees in the medical field (MD, DO, PharmD, DVM, etc.) would also be strongly considered. A commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in a robust learning community is expected. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand, and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teach courses in the areas related to Medical Biology. Courses could include General Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biostatistics, or general education science course (as needed)
· Collaborate closely with other faculty in the Department of Biology & Chemistry to develop new courses (in candidate’s area). Examples of potential courses of interest include Pharmacology, Immunology, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Epidemiology, Bioethics, or Research-based courses or seminars (among others)
· Engage in development or support of student-led research projects (in coursework or within our summer research program)
· Provide career mentoring to students in biology in collaboration with our dedicated academic advising department
· Recruit students and support student retention efforts
· Serve on Department and University committees
· Perform other responsibilities as defined by the University
