The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in lab animal science, regulatory compliance, communication skills, and attention to detail.
As a Scientist, Study Management, you will independently perform routine procedures in small and/or large animal species while maintaining strict adherence to USDA, FDA, DEA, and institutional (IACUC) guidelines and protocols. Routine procedures include, but are not limited to basic sedation and recovery, blood collection, standard IV dosing, body weights, vitals, blood processing and sample shipment: veterinary treatments. The Scientist, Study Management can also perform rodent colony management tasks such as genotyping, tagging, and weaning.
You will also be tasked with administrative tasks including but not limited to expiration checks, scanning data, filing records, and prepping blood tubes and eppendorfs for sample collection.
All procedures will be documented appropriately in accordance with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 58, which governs the conduct of nonclinical laboratory studies. You will be trained to capture data electronically in a 21 CFR, Part 58 compliant electronic data management system for GLP and MED studies.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or AALAS certification 1-3 years of direct experience in lab animal science preferred (minimum 5 years required). Experience with large and/or small animal species Certifications or Licenses:
AALAS Accreditation required if personnel do not hold associates degree Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and agencies (USDA, OLAW, FDA, AAALAC). Knowledge of animal care and use and regulatory expectations. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Self-directed individual with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, competing priorities under tight deadlines. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with team members, clients, vendors and other third parties. Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across various disciplines to ensure alignment. Ability to use digital communication tools (video conferencing, chat platforms etc.) On-Site:
This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location. This position will require access to lab animal spaces. Immunizations and Screenings:
Participate in occupational health and safety programs, including TB testing and any required immunizations. Adhere to all biosafety, chemical safety, and animal welfare guidelines. Essential Status:
Weekend, holiday, and overtime work are required on a rotation basis. You may be designated as essential personnel during storms, natural disasters, or other emergency situations. Vision:
Ability to distinguish between different colors (normal color vision). Ability to see clearly at various distances. Adequate near vision for reading documents or lab equipment. Ability to work in environments with varying light conditions. Company Benefits:
