Jacobs is NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We have an exciting opportunity for a <strong>Mechanical Design and Testing Engineer</strong> to join the team with Barrios, a teammate company!</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The<strong> Mechanical Design and Test Engineer</strong> will:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Support Johnson Space Center's activities on the International Space Station and space exploration</li>\n <li>Work in a team environment to analyze requirements from the customer and develop design solutions</li>\n <li>Design, develop, test, handle implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems</li>\n <li>Design unique tests fixtures and methods for various test programs</li>\n <li>Develop required system documentation such as procedures and hazard analyses</li>\n <li>Maintain a high level of technical excellence for all tasks to ensure the highest quality of technical products including test setups, test operations, development setups, development operations, documentation generation, execution and closeout</li>\n <li>Perform engineering design evaluations</li>\n <li>Perform extensive testing on space hardware</li>\n <li>Prepare and present designs at various design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint</li>\n <li>Produce engineering drawings conforming to applicable standards</li>\n <li>Perform dimensional fit analysis including thermal effects</li>\n <li>Perform functional analyses, when applicable, and sizing structural analyses</li>\n <li>Prepare and present designs at various design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint</li>\n <li>Produce other required design documentation</li>\n <li>Gather and documenting test requirements</li>\n <li>Authorize test preparation plan that includes requirements, cost, and schedule</li>\n <li>Oversee test preparation with test facility engineering</li>\n <li>Lead fuel cell test operations</li>\n <li>Review and presenting test data to the fuel cell test team.</li>\n <li>Identify potential safety risks and over-see implementation of hazard mitigation.</li>\n <li>Identify technical risks and oversee implementation of mitigation.</li>\n <li>Participate in fuel test planning and technical review meetings within JSC and with other NASA centers.</li>\n <li>Understand fuel cell membrane electrode assembly fabrication and in situ electrochemical diagnostics.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Education/Experience/Skills:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus five (5) years of experience.</li>\n <li>Must have the ability to produce drawings, perform dimensional fit tolerance analysis, including thermal effects, and support design with standard hand calculations for fit, function, and structural strength</li>\n <li>Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience using solid modeling CAD software</li>\n <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li>\n <li>Must have a working knowledge of machine shop processes and familiarization with the structural and thermal analysis process in the development of hardware</li>\n <li>Must have experience with pressure, thermal, vacuum systems</li>\n <li>Must have knowledge of fluid, pneumatic, and hydrostatic systems</li>\n <li>Must have knowledge of fluid systems and components. This includes basic fluid component types and functions as well as the operation of gaseous oxygen and hydrogen systems</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferences:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>BS degree in Mechanical Engineering</li>\n <li>Experience designing and testing hardware</li>\n <li>Knowledgeable in high-pressure mechanical systems and fuel cells</li>\n <li>Project management experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Requirements </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.</li>\n <li>Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.</li>\n <li>Work may involve sitting for extended periods.</li>\n <li>May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.</li>\n <li>Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.</li>\n <li>Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.</li>\n <li>Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)</li>\n <li>Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.</li>\n <li>Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.</li>\n <li>Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.</li>\n <li>Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.</li>\n <li>Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.</li>\n <li>This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <strong><em>Don’t miss out on this great opportunity; for immediate consideration, apply now!</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Barrios Technology is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies.
