    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p>This position functions in the role of an MRI Technologist in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. The MRI</p>\n<p>Technologist performs MRI examinations following protocols under the direct or indirect supervision of the</p>\n<p>Clinical Supervisor, Lead Technologist, Radiologists, Residents, or Clinical Physicians. The MRI Technologist</p>\n<p>promotes OHSU’s mission statement by delivering high quality, cost effective, family-oriented service. This</p>\n<p>position helps to create a collaborative environment by integrating education, research and clinical leadership.</p>\n<p>MRI Technologists work with infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.</p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<p><strong>Imaging:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides quality images, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment.</li>\n <li>Performs quality diagnostic studies with accuracy and efficiency. Positions patients for MRI examinations with a high regard for their safety, care, and comfort.</li>\n <li>Prescreens patients and all related personnel in regard to MRI compatibility standards for safe entry into the static magnetic field. If there is any question regarding MRI compatibility, a Radiologist shall be consulted.</li>\n <li>Understand the differences in Implant Compatibility between field strengths.</li>\n <li>Understands MR physics with the ability to implement imaging parameters on a case-by-case basis. Understands normal anatomical cross-sectional images.</li>\n <li>Must be able to decide on the completeness and quality of the patient’s studies when working independently of a Radiologist.</li>\n <li>Prepares and instructs patients for diagnostic study using age-appropriate communication skills.</li>\n <li>Optimizes each image during the examination to obtain the highest quality study with the least discomfort to the patient.</li>\n <li>Must be able to perform all ranges of exams after completion of technical competencies.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates competent knowledge and skills in the use of all MRI scanners and peripheral equipment within the MRI Department.</li>\n <li>Continues to stay current in regard to new MRI technology, hardware and software upgrades.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of compatibility and safety of equipment used for patient care inside the scan suite. (O2, monitoring, wheelchairs, stretchers and IV stands).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Documentation:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Verifies complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.</li>\n <li>Verifies and initials orders in patient chart, Responsible for correctly identify patients by complying with Imaging dept. Patient Identification Policy.</li>\n <li>Labels images completely with patient demographics, position or other required documentation.</li>\n <li>Follows through with all aspects of scanning duties in order to provide efficient and timely completion of examinations with correct data entry, following radiologist protocol, utilizing correct scanner protocol, begin and complete exams with correct billing and verification that images are in PACS.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Other Duties as Assigned</strong></p>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate of an approved magnetic resonance imaging course that meets current qualifications to apply for and take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board exam in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) upon hire.</li>\n <li>Must be ARRT (MR) certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, or ARMRIT American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists within 6 months of hire.</li>\n <li>Must be licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.</li>\n <li>Must have current approved BLS card.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have and maintain knowledge in the understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.</li>\n <li>Must have the ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care and the completeness and appropriateness of exams ordered.</li>\n <li>Must have general computer skills and experience.</li>\n <li>Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Formal training program with completed range of documented or demonstrated technical competencies that include at least 6 months of full-time clinical experience in MRI.</li>\n <li>Experience working in a Level I / II Trauma Center, or equivalent experience. 1 year of dedicated MRI technologist experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p>This position works in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, multiple demands and continuous interaction with patients and other medical professionals. It requires being exposed to noise, chemical solutions and human tissue/fluids.
