    "requisitionDescription": "<div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Position Summary:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>This position is responsible for overall fiber optic placing splicing and engineering activities required to establish end-to-end fiber connectivity between locations. Responsible for fiber optic testing results to ensure activities were completed correctly and within the required technical specifications.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Fiber Splicing Position Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber</li><li>Proficient in fiber color codes, in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicer, traffic identifier, power meter, and OTDR</li><li>Knowledge of applicable electronic equipment and specialty tools</li><li>Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficiently</li><li>Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required</li><li>Climb or use ladders on poles for accessing the aerial fiber plant<br>Perform aerial construction activities, including but not limited to, installing aerial fiber, installing fiber storage (snow shoes) in a safe and efficient manner</li><li>Perform underground construction activities, including but not limited to, pulling new cable/fiber through short conduits, opening underground vaults or pedestals making minor repairs if required</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in construction skills, including underground and aerial telecommunication construction techniques, fiber splicing techniques, emergency restoration practices, and general industry knowledge</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Fiber Splicing Essential skills and experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Splice cables, using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.&nbsp;</li></ul><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.&nbsp;</li><li>Access specific areas to string lines or install terminal boxes, auxiliary equipment, or appliances, using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.</li></ul><ul><li>Set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, or adjusting equipment.&nbsp;</li></ul><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Place insulation over conductors or seal splices with a moisture-proof covering.&nbsp;</li><li>Travel to customers&#39; premises to install, maintain, or repair telecommunication electronic reception equipment or accessories.&nbsp;</li><li>Pull up cable by hand from large reels mounted on trucks; then pull lines through ducts by hand or with winches.&nbsp;</li><li>Lay underground cable directly in trenches or string it through conduits running through trenches.&nbsp;</li><li>Install equipment to maintain the strength of communications transmissions.&nbsp;</li><li>String cables between structures and lines from poles, towers, or trenches and pull lines to proper tension.&nbsp;</li><li>Measure signal strength at utility poles, using electronic test equipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Dig trenches for underground wires or cables.&nbsp;</li><li>Explain cable service to subscribers after installation.&nbsp;</li><li>Compute the impedance of wires from poles to houses to determine the additional resistance needed for reducing signals to desired levels.&nbsp;</li><li>Use a variety of construction equipment to complete installations, such as digger derricks, trenchers, or cable plows.&nbsp;</li><li>Fill and tamp holes, using cement, earth, and tamping devices.&nbsp;</li><li>Dig holes for power poles, using power augers or shovels, set poles in place with cranes, and hoist poles upright, using winches.&nbsp;</li><li>Participate in the construction or removal of telecommunication support structures.</li><li>Clean or maintain tools or test equipment.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Reporting to this position:</strong> &nbsp;</p><p>N/A</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p><ol><li>Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.</li><li>Must be able to clearly see color and shading in plans and materials.</li><li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.</li><li>Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.</li><li>Must be able to ride in a vehicle for up to four hours to travel to and from job sites.</li><li>Must be able to work in different temperatures and changing weather conditions.</li><li>Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of Jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.</li><li>Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.</li><li>Must have the vision to allow differences in colors, shades, and brightness.</li><li>Must have flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the business.</li></ol><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Work Environment:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Good working conditions with the absence of disagreeable conditions, aside from travel.
