Description

Description The Chief of Staff, Network will serve as a key advisor to the President, Health Network in organizing, developing and executing long- and short-term plans and initiatives within the Health Network Business Unit. This position will provide oversight and guidance to high priority initiatives and will lead key strategic cross-functional and transformational projects. The Chief of Staff, Network will have the authority to make official commitments and broadly represent the President, Health Network interests across the organization. This role will respond to issues with little or no precedence and will work on complex issues or problems as they arise. As part of the Network Senior Executive Team, the Chief of Staff, Network will work closely and in support of key enterprise stakeholders, including members of the Senior Leadership Council, affiliate partners such as John Muir Health, Marin Health, and Washington Health; Medical Directors, School of Medicine leadership, and other key administrative and leadership positions. With the President, Health Network, the Chief of Staff, Network position will help ensure Health Network Business Unit initiatives to advance clinical, operational, and organizational goals are implemented through efficient collaboration with the Network Senior Executive Team and other UCSF Health leadership teams. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities % of time Essential Function (Yes/No ) Key Responsibilities (To be completed by Supervisor) 20 Yes Providing leadership in establishing a partnership with program directors within Network, and with other business units. Coordinates activities of Senior Executive Team for Network Business Unit; including meeting design, cadence and analyzing outcomes. Initiates and provides summary reports and background materials including approaches, trends, and insights that have a significant impact on the Network business unit. Performs analysis and oversees the development of communication materials for both internal and external constituents. 10 Yes Negotiating directly with high-level stakeholders, including faculty, medical directors, senior administrators, affiliate partners, other UC locations, public agencies, and the community, to develop solutions to complex problems; providing briefings on key issues. 10 Yes Represents the President, Health Network with authority to make decisions on high-level task forces and long- and short-range operational and strategic planning groups. 10 Yes Handling highly complex and critical projects, and leading projects of significance that require facilitation and collaboration across organizational functions. 10 Yes Providing high-level analyses on a broad range of issues, including new program proposals. Aligns all internal dashboards for performance monitoring and works closely with the UCSF Health DAI team. Providing strategic oversight for the development of the annual budget; determining expense priorities, recommending and implementing changes to methods, unit planning, staffing, programs, and other financial activities. 10 Yes Participates in leadership transition planning. 10 Yes Assists in the recruitment process for Senior Management. 10 Yes Defining the position, developing the recruitment plan, and assisting with forming the selection committee. 10 Yes Provides a framework for policy and administrative change, developing strategies for change management to remove barriers to goal achievement.
