The candidate also should have a foundation in Windows and network management skills. This position requires a mixture of engineering, operations, hands on technical and support skills. Qualified candidates should have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. The individual will work closely with technical leads, infrastructure and operations teams and other cross-department teams to evaluate business needs and provide end-to-end technical solutions and manage, operate, monitor, audit, secure server Virtualization assets.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong><u>Job Description and Duties</u></strong></p><ul><li>Minimum two-days per week onsite requirement at DOT HQ, Washington DC.</li><li>Once every 2-3 months support server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call escalation capacity as part of a team rotation.</li><li>Install and configure vCenter Server.</li><li>Configure, manage and maintain ESXi cluster servers.</li><li>Setup and configure HA, vMotion and DRS.</li><li>Configure Datacenters, clusters, resource pools, VM&#39;s and virtual switching.</li><li>Monitor health of VMs operating in various data centers.</li><li>Manage replications and VM movements between data centers.</li><li>Manage disaster recovery of the virtualized environment using SRM.</li><li>Support VMware management tools (i.e., Aria Operations, Log Insight, etc.).</li><li>Install, configure, and manage VDI solutions utilizing VMware Horizon.</li><li>Provide support to system administrators in order to resolve VDI issues and issues with Virtual servers including when required providing support in response to outages including conducting root cause analysis.</li><li>Maintain and update environmental documentation, standard Operating Procedures, and engineering documentation.</li><li>Working closely with counterparts to ensure stable and healthy virtualization platforms.</li><li>Collaborate with Lead to identify, assess, and present solution options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, which may include hardware and/or software.</li><li>Install, configure, and troubleshoot server systems (i.e., Windows, Linux, Appliances).</li><li>Performs security hardening, patching and server certificate updates.</li><li>Develops documentation for System Installation Plans and System Administration Guides.</li><li>Perform other tasks as directed by Lead Engineers or Project Manager.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Required Education and Experience:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Must have a minimum of 8 years of related experience</li><li>Must have the ability to install and configure vCenter Server.</li><li>Must be able to work with ESXi cluster servers.</li><li>Must have experience monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers.</li><li>Experience with VMware Horizon View, VMware vCenter, vSphere Client and Web Client, and VMware Workstation.</li><li>Understand VMware&#39;s integration with complex storage technologies.</li><li>Experience managing VMware Horizon user profiles.</li><li>Must have extensive knowledge of multi-vendor server operating systems.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in all aspects of enterprise Windows environment operations and maintenance (O&amp;M) and engineering.</li><li>Working knowledge using and configuring Windows Distributed File System and CIFS.</li><li>Experience with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation</li><li>Interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in a fast tempo ITSM support environment.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Preferred skills and qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>VMware certification VCP/VCAP and/or VDI Certification.</li><li>Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware virtual environment <u>and</u> Microsoft Hyper-V.</li><li>Strong experience with Microsoft SQL.</li><li>Experience providing guidance on optimization of desktops for platform interoperability and act as liaison between Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies.</li><li>Experience with VMware 7 preferred, VMware 8 is ideal.</li><li>Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructures (HCI), and additional Hypervisor and VDI technologies especially Nutanix.</li><li>Experience with any other cloud environments including AWS and/or Azure Certifications.&nbsp;</li><li>Scripting Experience: PowerShell and VBScript</li><li>Experience with Infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, etc.</li><li>DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark guidelines for Microsoft Windows servers</li></ul></div>\n",
