Description
Description
The Property & Casualty Technology Subject Matter Expert is a senior individual contributor within EXL’s Insurance Innovation & Strategic Capabilities team. This role sits at the intersection of insurance domain knowledge and platform technology—bridging the gap between the innovative solutions IMU designs and the technology environments in which our clients actually operate.
The individual will serve as the definitive internal authority on how leading Property & Casualty platforms are architected, integrated, and extended. They will work alongside product, delivery, and go-to-market teams to ensure that every solution IMU builds can be deployed in a real client environment—not just demonstrated in isolation.
Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Integration Leadership
Own the end-to-end understanding of how major Property & Casualty platforms (including Guidewire, Duck Creek, Cytora, and adjacent systems) are structured, configured, and extended in enterprise environments.
Define integration architecture patterns that enable IMU’s AI and digital solutions to connect with client systems of record securely, maintainably, and at scale.
Advise product and engineering teams on platform API capabilities, data model design, event-driven integration approaches, and upgrade-safe implementation patterns.
Maintain awareness of platform roadmaps, version lifecycles, and emerging ecosystem tools that could affect IMU’s solution strategy.
Solution Design & Prototype Enablement
Participate in early-stage solution design to ensure that prototype architectures are grounded in platform reality from day one.
Identify and resolve platform feasibility questions before they become deployment blockers, reducing rework and accelerating delivery timelines.
Contribute to the technical packaging of solutions for the marketplace, ensuring that integration requirements, pre-requisites, and deployment guides are clearly articulated for clients.
Collaborate with the Digital Product Delivery team to translate platform knowledge into actionable requirements and acceptance criteria for development teams.
Client Engagement & Technical Credibility
Represent EXL with authority in client-facing discussions involving platform architecture, integration design, and technology due diligence.
Engage with client enterprise architects, platform owners, and technology leadership to understand deployment environments and shape integration strategies early in the sales and delivery cycle.
Support the go-to-market team by providing platform-specific depth during solution presentations, RFP responses, and proof-of-concept engagements.
Knowledge Building & Institutional Capability
Build and maintain a library of reusable integration accelerators, reference architectures, and deployment playbooks for the major Property & Casualty platforms.
Mentor delivery team members on platform concepts, integration best practices, and deployment considerations to grow collective capability over time.
Stay current with platform ecosystem developments, vendor partnerships, and industry standards relevant to Property & Casualty technology.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Experience
Minimum 15 years in Property & Casualty insurance technology, with progressive responsibility across implementation, architecture, or product roles.
Platform Depth
Hands-on expertise with one or more of: Guidewire InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter), Duck Creek Policy / Claims / Billing, Cytora. Broad familiarity across the Property & Casualty platform ecosystem is strongly preferred.
Integration Skills
Deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns, REST and SOAP APIs, event-driven architectures, middleware platforms, and data transformation in the context of insurance core systems.
Industry Knowledge
Strong command of Property & Casualty insurance operations across policy administration, underwriting, claims, billing, and distribution—with the ability to translate business concepts into platform and technology requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
Demonstrated ability to engage at the executive level with clients and internal leadership, communicate complex technical concepts clearly, and influence decisions without formal authority.
Preferred Qualifications
Guidewire Certified Integration Specialist or equivalent platform certification.
Experience working in a consulting, advisory, or product company—in addition to implementation experience—given the client-facing and solution-building nature of this role.
Exposure to AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation use cases within Property & Casualty platforms.
Familiarity with insurance data standards (ACORD) and regulatory data requirements relevant to US Property & Casualty lines of business.
Prior experience building or contributing to marketplace-packaged solutions or accelerators.
What Success Looks Like in the First Year
Integration architecture patterns for Guidewire and Duck Creek are documented and adopted by the delivery team, cutting deployment scoping time materially.
At least two active client engagements are unblocked or accelerated by this individual’s direct involvement in integration design.
IMU solutions are packaged with clear, platform-specific deployment guides that can be used in client conversations and marketplace listings.
The individual has established working relationships with key client architects and is referenced in deal qualification conversations as a differentiating capability.
