Description Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. Responsibilities The Device Assembly Facility (DAF) is seeking a Nuclear Facility Operations Specialist II. Key Responsibilities Assist facility management with the development of CONOPS culture founded upon specific hazards presented. Develop knowledgeable and proficient skills with Conduct of Operations principles (shift turnover, communications, repeat backs, procedure/compliance, log keeping, required reading, alarm response, etc.) as disseminated through company policies, directives, and established work processes. Guide facility, project, maintenance, and other company and laboratory personnel concerning expected performance of company policies, directives, and established work processes. Exercise judgment within level of responsibility as a CONOPS representative while allocated to a facility, project, document or procedure review team, or other working groups as directed. Support and coordinate operations and maintenance at Nuclear or High Hazard facilities to maintain a condition and configuration to accept and support programs and projects. Help coordinate facility maintenance and operational activities. Access buildings, conduct walk-downs, inspections, and/or monitoring rounds to verify facility readiness to conduct or continue operations. This may include performing normal and emergency operation of installed facility structures, systems, and components in support of facility activities to ensure applicable requirements are met (i.e., Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Safety Requirements, DOE Orders, etc.). Perform system lineups in accordance with approved procedures and checklists to ensure operability. Provide support for execution of program/project activities and data collection (i.e., fissile material handling, chemical, explosive, and radiological, etc.) Exercise independent judgment within level of responsibility. Apply knowledge and training to ensure all activities are conducted safely and consistently in compliance with applicable requirements. Ensure DAF management is informed of all events which could affect the health and safety of site personnel or the public. Promptly corrects or reports any hazard or potential hazard to supervision. Participates in and embraces MSTS safety initiatives. Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations. Perform other duties assigned by Management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in field related to the position plus at least 2 years of relevant professional experience. Experience working with requirements-based systems for areas such as nuclear material operations, facility operations, maintenance, radiological facilities, high explosives operations, or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities. Training or experience with high explosives handling and operations; or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities. Training or experience in areas related to nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program is a plus. Ability to read and follow detailed instructions utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Conduct in-service inspections (ISIs) and system surveillances. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook are desired. The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada). The DAF is in the forward areas of the NNSS. Work schedule will be Monday – Thursday, 4/10’s (subject to change). Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Must possess a valid driver’s license. MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted. Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. This may include performing normal and emergency operation of&nbsp;installed facility structures, systems, and components in support of facility activities to ensure applicable&nbsp;requirements are met (i.e., Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Safety Requirements,&nbsp;DOE&nbsp;Orders,&nbsp;etc.).</li><li>Perform system lineups in accordance&nbsp;with approved procedures and checklists to ensure&nbsp;operability.</li><li>Provide support for execution of program/project activities and data collection (i.e., fissile material&nbsp;handling,&nbsp;chemical, explosive, and radiological,&nbsp;etc.)</li><li>Exercise independent judgment within level of responsibility. Apply knowledge and training to ensure&nbsp;all activities are&nbsp;conducted safely&nbsp;and&nbsp;consistently&nbsp;in compliance&nbsp;with&nbsp;applicable&nbsp;requirements.</li><li>Ensure DAF management is informed of all events which could affect the health and safety of site personnel or the public.</li><li>Promptly corrects or reports any hazard or potential hazard to supervision. Participates in and embraces MSTS safety initiatives.</li><li>Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations.</li><li>Perform other duties assigned by Management.</li></ul>",
