The position is part-time, exempt and is located at our West campus at 24000 W. Valley Pkwy. in Olathe, KS . Please see below for a full job description.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Job Summary&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The Student Ministry Specialist will be responsible for building relationships on and off-site alongside the West Student Ministry team, primarily at the West Location. This position will focus on relational ministry with students through programs, events, retreats, trips, and new connection points. As a member of the Student Ministry Team, this position will assist in the planning and leadership of weekly student ministry programming at West, outreach to new and returning students, and creating new outreach opportunities to connect with non and nominally religious students. The responsibilities would involve West-specific mid-week planning meetings, Wednesday and Sunday programming and preparation time, developing new relationship building opportunities to meet students, and supporting retreat and event experiences. .&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;<em>Position-Specific&nbsp;</em></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Build community and relationships with students through Youth Group, Discipleship Groups, and off-site connectional experiences.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist in the planning and execution of community building events and experiences for the West Student Ministry within, and outside of, weekly programming.</li><li>Develop outreach opportunities to build connections with students in our local community.</li><li>Provide support and leadership during weekly programming at West Student Ministry.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the Resurrection West Director of Student Ministries, assist and participate in the weekly planning of student events including Wednesday Night Youth Group, Sunday morning programming, Confirmation, and Discipleship Groups.</li><li>Provide leadership and be a presence in all Student events, trips, and retreats that occur throughout the year as needed. &nbsp;Typical expectation would be 1 serve trip a year.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide spiritual leadership, looking for opportunities to minister to and disciple and encourage others to grow in Christ through outreach opportunities&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the Resurrection West Director of Student Ministries, recruit, manage, motivate, and equip volunteers.&nbsp;</li><li>Other duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><em>Other responsibilities:</em></p><ul><li>Meta Fall Retreat (Middle School)</li><li>Activate Fall Retreat (High School)</li><li>Converge Spring Conference</li><li>Belong 6<sup>th</sup> Grade Event</li><li>1 Summer Serve Trip</li><li>Summer Student Events</li><li>Hype Nights</li><li>Confirmation Ceremony/Celebration</li><li>Supporting Social Media and Student Ministry Page</li></ul><p><em>Churchwide&nbsp;</em></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Follow Jesus and engage in the &ldquo;five essential practices&rdquo; of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share.&nbsp;</li><li>Support the church&rsquo;s purpose of &ldquo;building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians.&rdquo;&nbsp;</li><li>Exemplify the church&rsquo;s values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Competencies&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Team Building &ndash; forms highly effective teams, whether supervised or informal, where individuals with diverse skills achieve ambitious goals.</li><li>Driving Vision and Clarity &ndash; ensures people are on the same page and understands the cross-functional role teams play in making the church a success.&nbsp;</li><li>Motivating &ndash; creates a climate where people are inspired to do their best to help the church achieve its purpose.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Qualifications&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Experience with building relationships with middle and high school students, and volunteers</li><li>Proven Results in dreaming, planning, and executing a new event/program</li><li>Proven experience in communication and collaboration&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge of student ministry and student development&nbsp;</li><li>Able to relate to and lead students from various backgrounds</li><li data-pasted=\"true\">Proficiency in Mac &amp; PC platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.</li><li data-pasted=\"true\">High level of initiative, motivation and enthusiasm.&nbsp;</li></ul></div></div></div></div>\n",
