Scouting America believes and understands that helping youth puts us on a path toward a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>We are seeking staff to run our Climbing Department and operate our 38' climbing wall and 700' zipline.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Today’s summer camp staff is a diverse group of men and women sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability. This is work that makes a difference, work that calls one to continual learning and challenge, work that offers solid compensation, experiences, and advancement.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This is a seasonal position (mid-June to mid-August).</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Responsibilities</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Operate our climbing tower and zipline under the direction of the COPE/Climbing Director.</span></li>\n<li><span>Instruct Scouts in safe and proper climbing techniques.</span></li>\n<li><span>Help and supervise Scouts while they are climbing or using the zipline.</span></li>\n<li><span>Learn and be knowledgeable of all safety standards and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span>Operate standard climbing equipment safely and efficiently.</span></li>\n<li><span>Adhere to all sanitation guidelines.</span></li>\n<li><span>Clean and maintain the climbing tower, equipment, and gear</span></li>\n<li><span>Providing guidance, motivation, and support to all camp visitors.</span></li>\n<li><span>Communicate with unit leaders, Scouts, visitors, and staff.</span><br></li>\n<li><span>Maintain high standards for personal appearance and hygiene.</span></li>\n<li><span>Attend all meals and camp-wide activities unless excused by the Program Director.</span></li>\n<li><span>Obey and enforce all applicable policies, practices, and procedures approved by the New Birth of Freedom Council and Scouting America.</span></li>\n<li><span>Know, understand, and implement emergency action plans when needed.</span></li>\n<li><span>Relay any issues that could impact the safe and successful operation of the camp to the Area Director immediately.</span></li>\n<li><span>Exemplify all aspects of the Scout Oath and Law and serve as a role model for staff and Scouts.</span></li>\n<li><span>Complete all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Desired Skills</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High moral character.</li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with Camp Tuckahoe facilities and traditions.</li>\n<li>Auditory and oral abilities to effectively communicate.</li>\n<li>Physical ability to participate in and instruct climbing skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Requirements</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be willing to accept and meet Scouting America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.</li>\n<li><span> 16</span> years of age or older.<br></li>\n<li>Climbing Level I Training (provided)</li>\n<li>Offers for employment are subject to criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Compensation</span></span></p>\n<p>The New Birth of Freedom Council offers a competitive salary starting at $400/week, onsite housing, and meals.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Applicants are not required to give any information on this form that is prohibited by federal, state, or local law.</span></p>",
