You will build one-on-one relationships with students, put on awesome events around campus, supervise a team of engagement professionals and interns, and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life. Hillel at Baruch, City, John Jay, Pace, SVA, FIT, Fordham, and New School serves 4,500 Jewish students at eight diverse campuses: Baruch College, The City College of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Pace University, School of Visual Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology, Fordham University - Lincoln Square, and The New School. Each year, our student leaders and professional team across eight campuses create more than 500 program opportunities for students to engage in Jewish life, learning, and Israel. Our Hillel’s next Director of Engagement is a dynamic, creative, well-organized professional, with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for Jewish life. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, outgoing and engaging; able to connect with students, community members, professionals and lay leaders alike; prepared to supervise, motivate and grow a team of engagement professionals and student interns. Every day brings new ways to connect Jewish young adults with opportunities to further their identities and practice active Jewish life. What You’ll be Responsible for: Setting the student engagement strategy in order to fulfill our vision of reaching every one of our 4,500 Jewish students across eight campuses Supervising professional engagement staff Mentoring student leaders and interns including the Engagement Internship program Organizing program content and logistics across eight campuses in areas of Jewish life, learning, Israel, and community building Coordinating program publicity and marketing across the campuses Monitoring program budgets Supporting student-initiated programs and serving as a Jewish resource to students and groups on campus Representing Hillel on campus and in the wider community What You’ll Do This position is in-person in Manhattan. Build individual relationships with students and expand overall student engagement to reach every one of the 4,500 students across our campuses Function as a key educational and organizational resource to student leadership as they build Jewish life and community Connect students with a variety of opportunities including Hillel leadership positions, Jewish life in New York City, jobs and internships, Jewish trips abroad, travel to Israel, Jewish and pro-Israel conferences, and more Recruit for Birthright, Hillel delegations to conferences, and other trips. Attend numerous programs (some during evenings, weekends, and holidays) Teach Fellowship programs of student cohorts ranging in topics including Jewish learning, Israel, and professional development Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director and the Executive Director to seek out and prepare grant proposals Develop relationships with campus partners and outside Jewish organizations Gather and manage student engagement data in our CRM in order to develop and implement a data-informed engagement strategy Facilitate the day-to-day operations of Hillel including programs and events, administrative and organizational tasks, and welcoming students into Hillel spaces What You’ll Bring to the Job 2-4 years’ professional work experience Bachelor’s degree Ability to connect to college students, patience, and excellent listening skills Willingness to learn about and engage in a new and culturally diverse community. A strong entrepreneurial spirit Confidence initiating and running programs, and comfort asking questions Belief that our work isn’t done until every Jewish student is connected to Jewish life Excitement to continue developing your own relationship to Judaism Ability to work independently and as a member of a great professional team. What You’ll Receive Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000.
