    "description": "<p>The faculty member will teach lectures and labs in human anatomy &amp; physiology, including dual credit sections offered in partnership with area high school districts. Courses are offered during the day, evening, and/or online. Other responsibilities include assessment, course development, service activities, campus engagement, and professional development. Mentoring undergraduate students in research projects is encouraged.</p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Essential Functions</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Teach a combination of anatomy and physiology lectures and labs courses to fulfill a standard full-time instructional load equivalent to 15 lecture equivalent hours (15&nbsp;LEH) each Fall and Spring semester; may be assigned additional biology courses (e.g., environmental or general biology) as needed based on departmental demand and instructor qualifications</li>\r\n\t<li>Teach dual credit sections of human anatomy &amp; physiology in partnership with area high school districts; instruction may occur on high school campuses, at Midland College, or online</li>\r\n\t<li>Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum</li>\r\n\t<li>Recommend textbooks and instructional materials to be used in the instructional program</li>\r\n\t<li>Be available to students through office hours, effective use of Canvas, and electronic communication</li>\r\n\t<li>Identify students who are at risk for course failure and employ early interventions to promote student success</li>\r\n\t<li>Assist the Program Chair in scheduling and staffing all biology lectures and lab classes</li>\r\n\t<li>Assist with the development of departmental goals and objectives</li>\r\n\t<li>Coordinate with appropriate Midland College personnel to recruit new biology and work to increase enrollment in the Biology Department</li>\r\n\t<li>Serve on departmental, division, and college-wide committees as requested&nbsp;</li>\r\n\t<li>Help to orient new full-time and part-time faculty</li>\r\n\t<li>Stay current with trends and innovations in the field: maintain professional status through organizational memberships, advanced study, publication, and/or community-related service&nbsp;</li>\r\n\t<li>Maintain academic records as required by the college, accreditation agencies, and law</li>\r\n\t<li>Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in Midland College Policy and Administrative Regulations as published in the Employee and Faculty Handbook</li>\r\n\t<li>Other duties as assigned</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n",
