    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Earthworks Foreman</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Sureway</strong> <strong>Construction</strong> is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Work Local - Work Sureway!</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full Time, Seasonal</p>\n<p><strong>Schedule: </strong>11+ Hours/day, Saturdays and Sundays as required, Schedule as per Operational Requirements, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week</p>\n<p><strong>Perks: </strong>Benefits, RRSP/TFSA Matching </p>\n<p><strong>Location:</strong> Edmonton and Surrounding Area’s <strong>(Must be willing to work out of town, required to live in the Edmonton area)</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Essential: </strong>Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:</strong>     </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum five (5) years Civil /Earthworks experience.</li>\n <li>Valid Class 5 Driver’s License</li>\n <li>Clean Driving Record</li>\n <li>CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Pre-employment:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Drug and alcohol testing which may be swab or urine depending on site requirements</li>\n <li>Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Earthworks Foreman </strong><strong>Responsibilities: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Allocate general and daily responsibilities.</li>\n <li>Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.</li>\n <li>Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.</li>\n <li>Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews and ensure the crew has all required tools for their work, including PPE and emergency response measures.</li>\n <li>Assess and confirm, through documentation, crew competency.</li>\n <li>Identify equipment and labor resource requirements for task and their utilization.</li>\n <li>Adhere to project and company environmental considerations.</li>\n <li>Complete daily activity reports/daily logs.</li>\n <li>Work with project management to schedule and coordinate work tasks.</li>\n <li>Coordinate with other Foremen of subcontractors as required on the jobsite.</li>\n <li>Coordinate with shallow utility locaters when on the jobsite and ensure the crew clearly understands where all buried utilities are.</li>\n <li>Submit progress reports to ensure that the project is on track with deadlines that have been set out in the contract. Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.</li>\n <li>Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.</li>\n <li>Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.</li>\n <li>Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments and mentorship with crew. </li>\n <li>Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.</li>\n <li>Take corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards.</li>\n <li>Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.</li>\n <li>Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.</li>\n <li>This is a general responsibilities list and does not include all responsibilities required of the position.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Earthworks Foreman Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum five (5) years of Supervisory experience.</li>\n <li>Scraper Experience is a requirement. </li>\n <li>In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OHS guidelines.</li>\n <li>Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.</li>\n <li>Excellent organizational and leadership with the ability to communicate and report effectively.</li>\n <li>Must have extensive knowledge of \"Urban\" Subdivision grading or Industrial.</li>\n <li>Recognizes and understands the safe operation of heavy equipment and material handling.</li>\n <li>Good communication and interpersonal skills required.</li>\n <li>Must be a team player.</li>\n <li>Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.</li>\n <li>Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology degree/diploma considered an asset.</li>\n <li>Residential Subdivision experience is considered as asset.</li>\n <li>Road Building experience would be considered an asset.</li>\n <li>An ideal candidate would be willing to work out of town.</li>\n <li>Must live in Edmonton area</li>\n <li>The following training courses would be considered an asset: Leadership for Safety Excellence, Prime Contractor, CSTS-09, Ground Disturbance Level 2, H2S Awareness and WHMIS.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Sureway Construction Group</strong> adheres to employment equity and equal opportunity programs.
