Overview
A private principal with multiple residences is seeking an experienced, highly proactive houseman/groundsman to oversee day-to-day operations of a primary residence in the Pacific Palisades. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented, highly proactive professional who takes true ownership of a property, anticipates needs before they arise, and thrives in a polished, well-run household environment. The home is about 11,000 sq. ft. with approximately 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. The home has a pool, tennis court, cold plunge, and sauna. The home was built in the 1930s and it needs daily TLC and walkthroughs to make sure all is in working order; candidates must have experience as a handyman and be detail-orientated and be willing to do anything from cleaning bird poo, sealing a window, or grabbing the luggage and driving the principals to the airport. The schedule will be regular working days, but at times working late and weekends. Some days are easier (if they're out of town 2-3 weeks and just daily walking the property for them and keeping up on all needed maintenance); some days will be heavier, must be flexible and a team player in that regard. The family has 3 poodles so the candidate to hire must be dog friendly.
The primary focus of this role will be the day-to-day management and seamless operation of the Los Angeles residence. In addition, the family maintains several other domestic and international properties, each supported by on-site management and staff. This person will serve as a key point of coordination across all residences, working closely with the respective teams to ensure consistency, communication, and smooth operations throughout the portfolio. The household environment is professional, respectful, and well-run. The principals are warm, kind, and value healthy boundaries. There is minimal after-hours communication, with appreciation for flexibility when needed. This role is for a candidate seeking a collaborative team dynamic with long-term potential.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of a large, high-end primary residence, including a guest house, pool house, and specialty spaces
Manage and coordinate ongoing construction, renovation, and home improvement projects
Ensure all systems, vendors, and services are fully operational and proactively managed
Anticipate household needs and ensure the home is always guest- and family-ready
Coordinate with on-site managers and teams at other residences, both domestic and international
Travel ahead of the principals as needed to prepare secondary residences prior to arrival
Manage vendor relationships, schedules, contracts, and quality control
Maintain organization, documentation, and follow-through across all properties
Work collaboratively with existing household and personal support staff
Support a warm, professional household culture with discretion and consistency
Requirements
Must be dog friendly
Licensed driver with a clean driving record
General handyman skills
Being an independent self-starter with organizational skills
Must be able fluent in English both in speaking and in writing; must be a strong communicator, not passive or hard to communicate with
Must take full ownership of keeping the property functioning well: generator systems, gate systems, can talk to contractors, unclog a toilet, etc.
Flexible, if needed, to drive down to their son’s apartment to fix something (work truck provided)
Proven experience as a houseman/groundsman/handyman/house manager/estate manager, etc., or similar role supporting high-end private residences
Strong background in home management and project management, including construction oversight
Highly proactive, detail-driven, and solution-oriented with excellent follow-through
Comfortable overseeing multiple properties simultaneously if needed (this role is focused on the Pacific Palisades property)
Polished communicator who works seamlessly with principals, staff, and vendors
Exceptionally organized and calm under pressure
Flexible, trustworthy, and drama-free

There is a work truck on property the candidate can use to commute to/from work and use when working; the client will also pay for gas (truck not to be used in personal time)
