Description

The Retail Assistant Manager oversees other Retail staff and assists in completing functions relating to Retail in Van, Texas. Areas of responsibility include (but not limited too) customer service, usage of POS, training, replenishing stock, following, modeling, and training proper procedures, Café equipment cleaning and additional responsibilities as needed. This position supports the ministries of Sky Ranch and helps exceed guest expectations through customer service and retail options before, during and after their Sky Ranch experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide direction and supervision to part-time and summer staff while providing constructive feedback. Offer excellent customer service; product knowledge; cleanliness; and point-of-sale system operational skills. Lead with best practices for customer services techniques and expectations. Order soft drinks, Café Bulk Food & Candy/Snacks. Oversee completion of daily opening and closing procedures checklist. Ensure merchandise is organized and displayed in a professional and appealing manner. Arrange merchandise displays, rotating and rearranging as necessary to create an inviting environment for guests. Maintain awareness of retail’s daily gross sales. Communicate with Manager through weekly updates. Process Web Orders daily as needed. Restock, inventory & process cash from Vending & Penny Machine Assist with change replenishment as needed. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Texas Department of Health, ACA, and OSHCOM regulations and guidelines. Perform other duties as required. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Handling cash in retail outlets at Van. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION High School Diploma or Equivalent EXPERIENCE Three years of retail or purchasing management. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Food Handlers Certificate KNOWLEDGE OF In-depth understanding of the field of retail, marketing and/or purchasing. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Circuitree’s Sales Link software preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN Ability to effectively oversee staff. Excellent leadership skills necessary to appropriately influence people to achieve a desired outcome. Ability to exercise independent thinking and initiative. Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members. Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons with diverse personalities in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to customers (campers, parents, teachers, and more), retail staff, other co-workers and peers. Create and foster productive personal relationships with other departments and keeping lines of communication open. Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills. Ability to use sound judgment. Excellent and professional written communication skills. Ability to speak clearly and be understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with accuracy on the telephone and through e-mail. Excellent listening skills. Ability to deal with complex situations or issues and make effective, timely and appropriate decisions. Resourceful and well-organized. Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills. Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate the vision of Sky Ranch to both internal and external customers. EXTERNAL CONTACTS Vendors and guests. IMPACT ON EQUIPMENT AND PROPERTY Retail store equipment, café equipment, and inventory. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to carry a minimum of 25 pounds, and push up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination, including: Reaching, bending and stooping frequently. Requires physical agility, including but not limited to: bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual; crawling under desks; stooping, and climbing step stools or ladders. WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends; must be able to work overtime as needed. Working weekends is required during summer camp season. Works indoors in normal office environment majority of the time. However, must be able to stand long-term and walk long distances as necessary to cover retail shifts. Some exposure to physical risk typical for working with boxed inventory. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping and tripping. Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight stays including weekends. OTHER Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. Must be able to fully support Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement. An active membership in a church whose spiritual beliefs are aligned with Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement. Commitment to Sky Ranch’s Vision, Mission, Values (A.R.E.) and Principles (WOW, Stewardship, and Excellence) demonstrated in daily behavior. Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.
