Participating on the engineering work team, you’ll develop, implement, install, test, modify and/or operate complex equipment and systems as well as support other team members concerning experiment design, materials, equipment setup/maintenance and related issues.</p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>\n<p>General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking an experienced former US Navy Submarine Sonar Technician to join our team as a Senior Engineering Support Specialist. The ideal candidate will have 6–10 years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining the AN/BQQ-10 sonar system, with a deep understanding of its installation, operation, and life cycle support requirements. Candidates should have demonstrated proficiency in developing training materials for submarine sonar systems, as well as hands-on experience creating, navigating, and utilizing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs). This role supports the development and delivery of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) products for the US Navy, and we are looking for someone who can bring real-world fleet experience and technical expertise to our team. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Direct and assist with procedure development, troubleshooting, and maintenance at Land-Based Test Sites (LBTS) and onboard US Navy Submarines</li>\n <li>Review and provide input/feedback on draft and preliminary MIP/MRCs and technical documentation as needed</li>\n <li>Validate and test procedures during testing events in the lab and aboard submarines, which may require shift work to complete</li>\n <li>Develop operations and maintenance procedures for incorporation into <strong>electronic technical manuals (ETMs)</strong> using engineering source documents and materials gathered from engineering teams</li>\n <li>Develop and deliver <strong>operations and maintenance training</strong> using MS Office products to support the AN/BQQ-10 sonar system</li>\n <li>Develop electronic technical manuals to support <strong>O-Level operations and maintenance</strong> using principles of agile development</li>\n <li>Apply sound <strong>configuration management principles</strong> to ensure document integrity is maintained</li>\n <li>Maintain and develop a <strong>team concept schedule</strong> for product development</li>\n <li>Manage <strong>planned work forecasting</strong> in support of budget and execution planning</li>\n <li>Travel to support Navy customers, including duties performed onboard naval vessels <strong>in port and at sea</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What You Bring to the Table</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>6–10 years of full-time experience in integrated logistics support, including fleet introduction, installation, test, operation, and life cycle support of the AN/BQQ-10 sonar system and/or a comparable computerized, computer-controlled system of similar complexity</li>\n <li>Experience developing Navy training documents and materials</li>\n <li>Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems</li>\n <li>Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills</li>\n <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>\n <li>Understanding of agile methodology, including the agile mindset for rapid product development and validation</li>\n <li>Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and DOORS or similar requirements and standards repositories</li>\n <li>Strong leadership qualities and effective team communication skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What Sets You Apart</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Qualified Master Training Specialist or equivalent certification</li>\n <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel required), XMLSpy, MS Visio, and PowerPoint</li>\n <li>Ability to prepare documentation for delivery in multiple formats (e.g., .doc, .PDF, HTML, and XML/SGML-tagged online and IETM)</li>\n <li>Experience employing Instructional Design practices to design curriculum supporting operations and maintenance training</li>\n <li>Ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively under pressure</li>\n <li>Qualified as an Agile Scrum Master or Product Owner (or equivalent)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Willingness to travel and perform duties onboard naval vessels in port and at sea</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Our Commitment to You:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.</li>\n <li>Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s security</li>\n <li>Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)</li>\n <li>Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more</li>\n <li>See more at gdmissionsystems.com/careers/why-work-for-us/benefits</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Workplace Options:</strong><strong>This position is fully on-site, no telework opportunities with this position.</strong> While on-site, you will be a part of the Manassas VA facility.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>#CJ2</p>\n<h2>Salary Note</h2>This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
