At Emory Healthcare.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At Emory Healthcare we fuel your professional journey with better benefits, valuable resources, ongoing mentorship and leadership programs for all types of jobs, and a supportive environment that enables you to reach new heights in your career and be what you want to be. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We provide:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Comprehensive health benefits that start day one</li>\n <li>Student Loan Repayment Assistance & Reimbursement Programs</li>\n <li>Family-focused benefits </li>\n <li>Wellness incentives</li>\n <li>Ongoing mentorship and leadership programs </li>\n <li>And more!</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>All levels of experience and education will be considered for this posting. </p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Develops, tests, and establishes new laboratory procedures.</li>\n <li>Coordinates their implementation and evaluation.</li>\n <li>Identifies, troubleshoots, and solves complex problems.</li>\n <li>Makes internal and external presentations regarding advanced laboratory topics.</li>\n <li>Troubleshoots instrument and equipment malfunctions.</li>\n <li>Orders and maintains supplies and equipment for developmental testing.</li>\n <li>Field tests and evaluates reagents and equipment for use in the laboratory; recommends the purchase of new equipment or supplies.</li>\n <li>Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development.</li>\n <li>Attends educational in-services as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.</li>\n <li>Assists other laboratory supervisory personnel in developing and monitoring the quality of laboratory procedures to ensure results remain within established control levels. Teaches theory and clinical procedures to Medical Technology students, graduate</li>\n <li>students, and pathology residents.</li>\n <li>Develops and conducts in-service training and continuing education programs for technologists.</li>\n <li>Determines the need for, develops, evaluates, and implements new or modified procedures or techniques to provide improved patient care.</li>\n <li>Performs advanced and routine procedures as required.</li>\n <li>Develops teaching protocols for specialized testing.</li>\n <li>Researches documents and journals for developments in the field.</li>\n <li>Performs related responsibilities as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical lab science or a chemical, physical or biological science.</li>\n <li>Other bachelor's degree will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school of medical technology or if science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency. Education Exception: Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirement by ASCP and a HEW/HHS technologist certified by Health and Human Services. Bachelor's degree may be waived for histotechnologists with HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP).</li>\n <li>Two years required with five years of related laboratory experience preferred.</li>\n <li>Positions in this classification may require certification in a particular laboratory specialty.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
