    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">LIFEGUARD - CASUAL</span></p>\n<p>Are you a certified Lifeguard looking for some extra shifts over the summer?  </p>\n<p>Shawnigan Lake School is looking to hire Lifeguards to assist us in keeping our guests safe</p>\n<p>at our lakefront facility this June, July and August.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Wage: $27.00 TO $30.00 per hour (depending on experience, qualifications and internal parity).</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Duties could include:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carries out lifeguarding duties by monitoring safety practices, Red Cross, Lifesaving Society, National Lifeguard Service, and Public Health Act Standards to ensure requirements are maintained</li>\n<li>Surveillance: Maintain constant, active supervision of the water and dock area to identify hazards or distressed swimmers.</li>\n<li>Emergency Response: Swiftly respond to emergencies, perform water rescues, and initiate CPR or first aid within the scope of certification.</li>\n<li>Responsible for minor first aid related duties that may arise</li>\n<li>Rule Enforcement: Warn swimmers of unsafe behavior and enforce all facility policies and regulations.</li>\n<li>Work effectively as a team member with other lifeguards and Head Guard</li>\n<li>Performs monitoring and reporting functions by advising supervisor of general equipment needs, monitors operating procedures and ensures standards are maintained, maintains records, log books, and submits reports as required</li>\n<li>Facility Maintenance: check equipment, clean the dock deck, and ensure safety equipment is functional.</li>\n<li>Performs other related duties as required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">We are looking for team members with the following:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must possess a current, valid National Lifeguard certification</li>\n<li>Must possess a current, valid First Aid certificate with CPR “C”</li>\n<li>Waterfront certification and experience lifeguarding in a waterfront setting an asset</li>\n<li>Experience in lifeguarding for varied ages an asset</li>\n<li>Physical Fitness: Strong swimming ability and endurance</li>\n<li>Alertness: High level of observation and ability to remain focused for long periods.</li>\n<li>Judgment: Mature decision-making skills to manage stressful, high-pressure situations.</li>\n<li>Responsible and observant, with the ability to enforce safe practices in a group setting</li>\n<li>Demonstrable theory, practical skills and abilities related to water rescue, safety, and accident prevention</li>\n<li>A team player who can work independently as well as under supervision</li>\n<li>Strong customer service skills including the ability to de-escalate situations</li>\n<li>Ability to work in a high energy, positive environment.</li>\n<li>Great communication skills: verbally and in writing</li>\n<li>Flexible availability and open to working daytime, evening, weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working with children and teenagers an asset</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">HOW TO APPLY</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Please submit your resume and a brief covering letter indicating your availability from June through August (part-time, full-time, planned vacations etc.).  </span></p>\n<p><em> </em></p>\n<p><em>Shawnigan Lake School is an equal opportunity employer committed to establishing an inclusive, equitable, and accessible environment for all.
