    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to the collection staff during blood drives or at branches. Performs phlebotomy and collection procedures and processes related to the collection of blood and/or blood components from donors according to the organization’s policies and procedures, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, and American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards. If assigned to mobiles, responsible for driving the blood mobile.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position. </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to the collection staff during blood drives or at branches; including assignment of meal/break periods</li>\n <li>Ensures that staff follow applicable Policies and Procedures</li>\n <li>Obtains medical history and vitals from donors and/or patients </li>\n <li>Performs phlebotomy and collection procedures to collect blood or blood components</li>\n <li>Completes beginning and end of shift responsibilities including review of all donor records and regulated documents for accuracy and completion </li>\n <li>Assists with the recruitment of all donors including potential apheresis and platelet candidates and supports collection goals including ALYX conversions and split rates</li>\n <li>Ensures all equipment is operational and necessary supplies are available to conduct blood drives or branch operations</li>\n <li>Monitors deferrals and performance to identify training needs or equipment issues</li>\n <li>Ensures excellent customer service and professionalism towards all customers including communication to Donor Recruitment staff regarding issues and concerns on blood drives</li>\n <li>If assigned to mobiles, drives a bloodmobile and other collection vehicles, as assigned, to and from collection sites.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p>\n<p>High School diploma or equivalent and six months of related experience.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:</p>\n<p>If assigned to work on mobiles, successfully passing, CDL pre-qualifications, training and obtaining a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is required. CPR Certification required.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals </li>\n <li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence </li>\n <li>Ability to organize work for timely completion </li>\n <li>Ability to follow oral and written instructions </li>\n <li>Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization </li>\n <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work </li>\n <li>Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English </li>\n <li>Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications </li>\n <li>Ability to commute with personal transportation </li>\n <li>Ability to operate and drive a mobile, box truck or van to designated site locations, if assigned to mobiles </li>\n <li>Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment</li>\n <li>Ability to work a flexible schedule, as dictated by business needs, including weekend, holidays and overtime when necessary</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p>\n<p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment.  Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, standing for extended periods of time, and manual dexterity in the operating of phlebotomy equipment. If assigned to work on mobiles, tasks also include driving a large vehicle. </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:</p>\n<p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee <strong><em>may</em></strong> encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens. Employee will experience close/small work spaces on mobile unit buses. Vibration and motion are common on mobile unit buses.
