    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>\n<p>VHB is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking <strong>Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Traffic Engineer</strong> to join our expanding Transportation Technology Group in the Northeast region with hybrid opportunities in our Pennsylvania Offices. In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to the planning, documentation, design, and construction support of advanced ITS infrastructure and traffic design.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>VHB proudly offers a Hybrid Work Model, giving our employees the flexibility to thrive both in the office and through remote work—where productivity and creativity are at their best.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead the development of ITS Design Plans</li>\n <li>Perform task management to deliver a wide variety of ITS projects</li>\n <li>Prepare technical specifications and construction cost estimates</li>\n <li>Develop electrical one-line diagrams and conduct electrical system calculations</li>\n <li>Create communication diagrams and fiber splicing plans</li>\n <li>Develop key systems engineering documentation, including:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Concept of Operations (ConOps)</li>\n   <li>Systems Engineering Report (SER)</li>\n   <li>System Requirements</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Conduct field work such as data collection and site investigations</li>\n <li>Coordinate with clients, project stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams</li>\n <li>Support business development and marketing efforts</li>\n <li>Manage and mentor junior staff in the successful delivery of project tasks</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in ITS design and/or system development which could include:\n  <ul>\n   <li>ITS Site Plans and Construction Details</li>\n   <li>Communication plans</li>\n   <li>Network planning/architecture</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Proficient with data analysis tools such as Excel</li>\n <li>Familiarity with design platforms including OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, and AutoCAD</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal</li>\n <li>Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently</li>\n <li>Self-driven with a strong work ethic and passion for continuous learning</li>\n <li>Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work on time</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Systems, or Electrical Engineering required; a focus in the field of Transportation is preferred</li>\n <li>A Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of professional experience</li>\n <li>5+ years of ITS engineering experience required</li>\n <li>Familiarity with state DOT processes and standards preferred</li>\n <li>Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required or ability to obtain within 6 months. </li>\n</ul>\n<p>Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Pennsylvania is $90,000-125,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
