Description
JOB PURPOSE
Transition-to-College Instructor will perform college readiness activities and develop end-of-summer deliverables for rising seniors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Transition-to-College Instructor is responsible for providing targeted college readiness instruction and postsecondary support to Upward Bound participants, with a primary focus on rising seniors. This position will design and deliver engaging, relevant, and standards-based learning experiences that support students’ successful transition from high school to postsecondary education. The instructor will develop and implement instructional materials, addresses diverse learning styles, assess student progress, and advise students on academic, career, and college planning.
In this role, the instructor will ensure that participants complete essential college readiness deliverables, including draft essays and personal statements, career and personality assessments, lists of prospective colleges and universities, scholarship requirement lists, FAFSA IDs for students and parents, brag sheets, draft resumes, college acceptance and scholarship email accounts, and LinkedIn profiles . The instructor will also support participants in achieving key college access outcomes, including improved SAT performance and SAT retake registration, ACT preparation and ACT retake registration, college preparation, understanding options for funding their education, recognizing the benefits of scholarships, and identifying appropriate college match and college fit opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director (or designee).
